Hello from a delinquent social media user. Hope you are well or otherwise doing your best. Here are some photos from my run this morning along Te Awakairangi | Hutt River. Autumnal morning runs are the best runs IMHO

#NowPlaying There are worse ways to spend an evening than listening to “The Dude with the Smooth Voice”™️ (as my oldest son refers to him). It’s a wonderful album

I love George Eliot’s work, so I am
generally biased in favour of recommending her novels 😄 I’m only at chapter 3 of Romola, though, so I’ll let you know my thoughts when I finish it. ICYI, this is how she felt about this novel

Continuing my George Eliot rereading jag. Reading this for only the second time since buying it in May 1996 😳

#NowPlaying From one Griselda to another. Vivaldi’s version of this opera is more overwrought than Scarlatti’s (which is more pathetic). Both musically rewarding. Fabulous lineup on this recording, too.

What’s a holiday without an Ian Rankin novel or three? They always reward a reread.

#NowPlaying and especially loving the elegant wind, racketty horns and pingy brass playing on this album. Overall it’s an immediate, tight, exciting performance. Relatedly, my love for Beethoven never wanes

#NowPlaying and thinking about how amazing it must’ve been for the lucky listeners of the great Handel/Scarlatti playoff

Ngā Mihi o te tau hou pākehā | Happy New Year, good people of Bluesky! Ngl, the first day of 2025 could look rosier, but this rubbish weather is just a carryover from 2024 and I’m sure 2025 will serve us up some glorious weather shortly.
