This is the thread.
I was at a shitty crustpunk bar once getting an after-work beer. One of those shitholes where the bartenders clearly hate you. So the bartender and I were ignoring one another when someone sits next to me and he immediately says, "no. get out."

The paradox of being human is that we learn to find hope and meaning in a world scarred by pain and brokenness. –Kat Armas (Liturgies, 2025)

Begin with gratitude.
In Ps.111:1 today: 'I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart in the company of the upright, in the congregation.' For the psalms, giving back to community is a sign of wholeness & healing. Gratitude can heal. Offer perspective. Ripple grace. Thanks is my work today.

God is in the Here and Now. It is we who are not. It is we who are trapped in the past, angry at what formed us, or fixated on a future that is free from pain or totally under our control. But God is in our present, waiting for us there.

In Ps. 112:5 today: 'It is well with those who deal generously.' Generosity & well-being are sisters, offspring of justice & mercy. In a moment of rage bait algorithms, & fear of immigrants, deal generously. Consider grace. Generously is my meditation today.

In Ps.113:7 today: 'God raises the poor from the dust. God is in relentless solidarity with the poor & powerless. This is a gilded age, one tilted toward the oligarchs. All of us come from the dust of the earth. All of us need breath given to us. Dust is my prayerful work today.

In Ps.122: 7 today: 'Peace be within your walls & security within your towers.' Scripture pairs peace with security, peace with justice, or justice with mercy. The psalms seek the common good of both/and compassion. Divide and conquer never ends. Peace is my work today.

In Ps.126:5 today: 'Let those who plant with tears reap the harvest with joyful shouts.' So much trauma is being planted. Grief. Loss. God is with us in our woundedness. Christ is the wounded healer. Rest with seed time. May we reap solidarity. Newness. Reap is my prayer today.

Good morning & welcome to #Caturday

There’s someone out there who still remembers you.

Not because of how you looked or what you did, but because, when no one else showed up with kindness, you did.

Kindness always matters

There is a tenderness at the heart of the universe that will not give up on you. The gospel brings that truth back to us again and again.

In Ps.132:9 today: 'let your faithful shout out with joy!' Joy comes on the wings of God, with connections that help us live more consciously. When joy leaves, we can make ourselves open to joy's return. Despite the harm and hurt, God, renew us with joy. Joy is my work today.

In Ps.142:6: 'Deliver me from my oppressors.' For the prophets compassion & justice are one. Justice is one of the faces of God. According to the USAID counter, 88 die every hour because this was cut off. Deliver us, O God, into the increase of justice. Deliver is my work today.
