Anybody know what the deal is with Chihuahuas? I'm feeding this one for a friend while he is away. He (the pup) is possessed by violent evil spirits. He got out of the yard and it took three of us to get him back home. Two of us are nursing bite wounds. Now he's all like nothing happened.

This is Vulcan at approximately 15 months old. He is XXXL size for a cat, and has the genetic material from his wild father to be a ruthless killer. His upbringing has molded him into a semi-liquid partly visible shadow lurker. He loves pats, cuddles and tickles, and slashing flesh with his claws.

I got two new hens today. They are Lavender Sussex, close to laying their first eggs. These hens are very tame and seem to enjoy a cuddle. They are joining our mixed-breed flock and will hopefully help keep the fruit orchard clean.

I was given this cap quite sometime ago by a friend. Does anyone recognise the style and can shed some information about its ethnicity and perhaps its significance if any in a religious sense?

Bear, Buster and Vulcan. It's a cool autumnal night in country South Australia. There is hardly a sound. Just the constant muted hiss in my brain of the constant collisions of anxietrons that course through my bulging blood vessels.

Buster and Vulcan. Two of four kittens found in a flower pot along with their mother Athena. Now 15 months old.

Crumb is great. I love it. It is crunchy and filling and very tasty.

My first ever attempt to bake baguettes. These are sourdough baguettes with a heavy dough that has strong bakers flour, wholemeal rye flour, and spelt flour.

Plenty of room for improvement but I'm happy with this as my baseline

Sourdough with wheat, rye and spelt flours. It tastes great. I went overboard with the scoring.

I grew the basil and tiny tomatoes that sit on these sourdough crostini. I also baked the wheat, rye and spelt sourdough bread. It's not a world changing thing in itself but the crostini were delicious.

Saddleworth sourdough batard.

Crumb is soft and airy with no gumminess.

Crust is crackly and chewy.

Taste is superb. Slight maltiness. Subtle, balanced salt and sour.

It's dry-country kitchen-baked bread.

Raspberry Pi 500 micro desktop. Very happy with this little PC version of the Pi5.

Five years ago we picked up our dog Bear at an animal shelter. He is the goodest boy.

One step closer. It's edible, it tastes ok, the crust is terrible.

Proofed (prooved?)

Pre-shape / first shaping done. There's some big blister bubbles, and the top skin is good.

So far so good.

Sourdough rising.

5% Rye, 10% wholemeal, 85% white plain flour. It's rising slowly at the moment however the last loaf did this then kicked off quickly at the end, so I'm watching it closely so it doesn't sneakily go overproofed.

The small egg in this photo. The other two eggs are from 'normal, barnyard mix hens. Only one of the four topknots has started laying so far.

I'm not sure what's in her. I got her from a local chicken lover who has frizzles, silkies, barnevelders, wyandots and others. I think the head mop comes from silkies or frizzles. I got four young pullets at the same time, two dads, two mums and nobody knows what the grandies were :)

While Russia incinerated an oil refinery at a time, as the US commits hara kiri by electing the least apt to govern, and Europe stands in trepidation and unreadiness, I find solace in the wondrous beauty of a backyard chicken.

Glow in the dark chicken. Well, not literally but there's beauty there that deserves eggs-ageration.

Chickens.

The world needs to contemplate chickens more, and plot racial domination less.

It's all I've got to offer.

This is today's egg harvest from my tiny flock of chickens. The tiny egg is the first egg laid by one of the youngest hens. We shall have a little celebration of her first ovulation.

There is good in the world.
