Speck of grey in the societal blob.
Technically right if you look at it from Mishustin's narrow perspective: sanctions haven’t completely stopped RU from using energy export revenues to fund the war. The truth is far more complex. The RU economy is red hot, inflation is biting, and people there are living on ever tighter budgets.
‼️ Russia: “Mishustin said that sanctions against the Russian fuel and energy sector have not achieved their goals”

I disagree 😇

Besides lying viciously here about the role he and Starlink have played in his pal Putin's war crimes in Ukraine, Musk below shows the growing madness I warned about as his biographer many weeks ago. His deranged attacks on a top Polish minister and U.S. ally reek of the Kremlin.

"There are still people who want to go back to the times of Napoleon, forgetting how it ended," Putin said, referring to yesterday's televised statements by President Macron.

Forgetfulness can be deadly, indeed. Moscow was burned to the ground in that war.

Putin compares Macron nuclear remarks to fate of Napoleon
Russia has said that it views as a "threat" comments by French President Emmanuel Macron about extending his country's nuclear deterrent to other European countries.

I fail to see why the US should take THE primary role in seeking a deal when they've all but telegraphed their intention to withdraw assistance to Ukraine. Europe should be leading on all fronts.
Europe’s ability to keep Ukraine going probably still depends on access to US defence industrial base. If that’s true, there still has to be an all out effort - however distasteful - to seek a deal AND not get Ukraine or Europe blamed for lack of one. That may be forlorn. But have to keep trying.
Nothing could make it clearer that Europe needs to step in NOW and offer Ukraine an alternative. Not more because the US is doing less, but an alternative to US military assistance. Starlinks is another huge problem. And there is no relying on the US for European security anymore. Very bad times.

He doesn’t care about Ukrainians or securing a just, lasting peace. His actions make perfect sense when you see the bigger picture: he's chasing a Nobel Peace Prize. Trump is a lunatic who thinks he can trade the future of millions of Ukrainians for an award by pushing a rushed peace settlement.
"Zelensky wants to fight, fight, fight. We want to end the war. They ask me: Why do you care about Ukrainian and Russian soldiers? I care about all of them. If we don't do anything he (Zelensky) will have to make peace, its very simple."

You want Ukraine to bend the knee, rat.

Anti-Trump sentiment only exists among Democrats and, to a lesser extent, Independents. Republicans enthusiastically approve of Trump's performance so far, in what couldn't be a starker indication of the political chasm in America separating the two parties.

Russia has the sort of "elections" that Mangolini wishes to have in the US.
“At least Russia has elections”

Russia frequently jails and kills any opposition to Putin, who has been in power since 1999.

If you like dictatorships, that’s fine. Just admit that. Don’t insult anyone’s intelligence—including your own—by claiming Russia has real elections.

Hegseth's announcement that the U.S. wouldn’t send troops to Ukraine was a major blunder, weakening Ukraine’s position before talks even began. The shifting sands of Russian policy are hard to ignore. From recognizing Ukraine's sovereignty to invading the country to 'denazify' its Jewish President, all within a generation's time.
😮 Putin in 2002: "Ukraine is a sovereign state and has the right to choose the path to ensure its own security. I think it is quite possible that Ukraine will join NATO.

🥴 Putin in 2022: starting a full-scale war against Ukraine "because it is striving to join NATO."

Democracy works great while the masses lack for nothing. The moment hardship begins to set in across large swathes of the populace, the grifters, the opportunists, the populists, and similar human trash, all come out of the shadows to feed.

Someone once rightly said that it's all about the economy.
At its very core, democracy requires a basis of truth and facts, it’s a basic tenet. If people can’t make informed decisions, trust and democracy dies. The right relies disproportionately on misinformation, it’s not a trend that exists on all sides of the political spectrum. They win via deception.

Uncomfortable truths about the state of the war in Ukraine and the many systemic failures that remain unaddressed three years on.
To fully understand the current state of the war, it's not enough to focus on arrows and units on a map. The real story lies in the deeper, systemic challenges. In an analytical piece for @euromaidanpress.bsky.social, I offer more comprehensive assessment:
