Updating my pinned 🧵 :

I'm not active on Twitter anymore, so I'm rebuilding the #migraine and #MigraineChat community here. A few ways to connect....

The original MigraineChat feed stopped working, so like and pin this one. It works the same.

I was really banking on a steroid taper calming down all my different types of pain but it hasn’t helped this time and this was my last hope. I don’t know what to do at this point. I can barely get out of bed.

Guilty. Have been forever. 🫠

Effffff. These penalties. Handing back to the Bills with a bow.

2/ 🚨Note: Don't do as the guy interviewed on PBS suggests & demand a stop to the shutdown. That won't help (is he MAGA?); the CR bill funded telehealth for only one more month!

Call your MoCs (script & bill #s in post above) & ask them to pass a freestanding bill to *make telehealth permanent.*

Telehealth for seniors & the disabled (& soon, for everyone else) is gone.

I've posted bill #s for years; over time, fewer & fewer folks were willing to call their MoCs.

"It's head-spinning to go back to these restrictions....Now, all that progress goes away."

Ridiculously, Medicare Telehealth coverage keeps are getting tied to continuing resolutions. Bills could be passed separately. But political bureaucracy. This means Medicare Telehealth waivers are kaput as of today. My latest for @motherjones.com www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
Another shutdown casualty: Medicare telehealth coverage
It's got bipartisan support—and millions of Americans need it. But Congress keeps failing to lock in funding for Medicare telehealth services.

Nope. You'd think this might be on their radar but no.

Called patient advocate at major large hospital in my state where I see a headache specialist 2 hours away fully virtually. Wanted to see if by some miracle they were considered a rural facility and maybe still doing telehealth so my appointment was safe. They have no idea. Will look into it. Sigh.

There's also the CONNECT for Health Act which, my understanding is, makes many current telehealth provisions permanent.

Ah, shoot, I was really hoping for that 1000% discount he keeps taking about. 🫠

Is TrumpRx where they lower prices by 1500% so I'm being paid to take them?

NEWS

The White House is planning to unveil a direct-to-consumer website for Americans to buy drugs, dubbed TrumpRX, as well as announce that Pfizer plans to lower prices on several of its medications in the U.S.

Wish they'd include the fact disabled people on Medicare will lose access (not just seniors).

Another caveat to the telehealth thing, you may still be able to see a provider by telehealth but my understanding is their facility must be in a rural area (not you).

For folks on Medicare worried about telehealth for mental health services, some additional info.

I just found this. If you scroll down a bit there's a header "Are there exceptions for the subsequent in-person visit every 12 months?" It seems to confirm what my therapist told me.

I'd say unbelievable but that's totally believable.

Also hoping for a last minute extension or addition of telehealth to any budget CR deal.
migrainechat.bsky.social
So, my therapist said that it reverts back to requiring one in-person visit per year. There seems to an exception if that's clinically inappropriate or unnecessary, though. We're hoping this means we can continue fully tele since she's two hours away. If I hear differently, I'll let you know.

Yep. It's here. We tried. Now 🤷🏻‍♀️

*Loss of telehealth for Medicare. Don't panic immediately if you have other insurance, though other insurers tend to follow what Medicare does.
migrainechat.bsky.social
Between the loss of telehealth and potential drug tariffs, I'm just in complete denial about what's possibly (likely?) happening on Oct 1st.

That's frustrating that the CGM is so unreliable for her (and you).
