70 commissioners also sent a letter to Council this week calling for a hearing. We do not have a clear idea of MPD’s ground rules for working with (or near) the feds post-emergency. The executive has been reticent to answer questions, or has given contradictory answers. We need a public hearing.

…which is why 70 commissioners (including me) sent a joint letter to Council calling for just that.
What are MPD’s ground rules, coming from the top? Are officers well briefed on them? In what ways are officers being allowed to operate alongside federal personnel? How are they documenting that?

Community leaders, school principals & churches have written multiple times to @mayorbowser.dc.gov for clarification on MPD’s rules & internal guidance on federal cooperation. They haven’t heard back. Basic transparency and accountability are being frustrated. We need Council oversight.
Getting underway now: @brianneknadeau.bsky.social hosts a roundtable on D.C. government coordination with federal entities or joint enforcement activity that may violate D.C. human rights laws.

I checked the Wayback Machine just to be super sure and yes, the National Park Service has changed “LGBTQ” to “LGB” on its Dupont Circle page. For shame.
