I'm sorry but I'm not sure the label "progressive" applies if you can't wholeheartedly embrace the bare minimum of housing densification for the fourth largest city on the the continent.
Geting buy-in One suburban councillor is trying to put that advice into practice. Early last year Coun. Jamaal Myers launched a pilot project of sixplexes in his Scarborough North ward. After June's vote, his area remains the only suburban ward where the developments are permitted. The first-term progressive said he wanted to pursue the policy because there was a lack of affordable family-friendly housing in his area. To lay the groundwork, his office sent letters to every house in the ward, held multiple meetings, and set up a dedicated team to answer constituents' questions. Myers acknowledged that some residents aren't on board with sixplexes, but his hope is that they at least "understand why we're doing it, because we took the time to explain
