Former SysProg moved on to being a payments specialist - and now trying to fully retire. — @FunnellMike over with the pachyderms & on what might still be Twitter (sort of).

Sydney, Australia.
AFAIK, they can’t. Last time I looked, only 3 of the “big 4” banks (not CBA) and BankSA offered it.

It’s a bit tricky to set up so it works in back end and stand-in authorisation processing.

The banking app from my bank gives me a dynamic CVV - which I always use in preference to the fixed one printed on my card.
December 10, 2025 at 12:57 AM
Note: I can ask my bank to cancel my card and reissue a new one, if it becomes necessary. It’s a little less convenient, getting a whole new face 🙄

I did it by credit card, using a one-time (‘dynamic’) CVV code, not the permanent one printed at embossing time.

TBF: Gordon once gave me a laugh when he observed (in his 70s) that he was too old to be a British politician and too young to be an American politician 😂

As I noted above, I’ve discussed this with an actual doctor. I see no reason to reject or even doubt my doctor’s clinical judgement on this.

Sadly for my appreciation of the original, my memory of this is overtaken by a piss-take I can no longer find - along the lines of austerity: “always a frown, with Gordon Brown”.

I should pay a lot less attention to pommy politics 🙄🤷‍♂️

Of course not: there is only one victim (the fragile operatic princess: Linda) so there can only be one villain (the actual victim, who refused to cooperate).

With apologies to all the lovely, wonderful, Karens out there (I’ve known and loved a few) I’ll still note Linda’s middle name as telling..

Will that matter? 🤷‍♂️

“Robot says no!” 😂

I’ve served in the military, but not in war. My Dad served 37yrs, including war.

The people least likely to want war are serving. (Well: at least the thinking ones.)

Politicians and “the general public” always seem more keen: the less likely they are to be shot at, the keener they seem to be 🤷‍♂️😅

🤬no!!!

The AOC of RAAF Amberley, when Dad was stationed there, spent most of his war in Changi. My primary school principal at Amberley was Changi then the railway, then outside Nagasaki when The Bomb hit. My great aunt was interred in Java while her son served in Bomber Command.

Etc.

Not uncommon.

Ideal! 👏

As a kid (and except for chicken pox, which was dumb-arsed luck) I caught *nothing* I was vaxxed against, and *everything* that a vax hadn’t been developed for at the time.

Go figure, eh?
December 9, 2025 at 8:37 AM
BTW: chicken pox is wildly contagious, meaning *almost* everyone caught it as a kid (at least before the relatively recent vax).

But: because of my military-brat upbringing it had burned through schools before I arrived or hadn’t hit there before I left.

It seems I moved about in the gaps 🤷‍♂️

The shingles one isn’t - but apparently the chicken pox one is (or was 18mths or so ago).
December 9, 2025 at 8:25 AM
And yes: I’ve had actual medical advice - from a real doctor! - informing my decision to not get vaxxed for chicken pox or shingles.
December 9, 2025 at 8:23 AM
I’m in an odd spot: a shingles vax would be useless to me - because I’ve never had chicken pox.

Now: I could get a chicken pox vax .. yet it seems more likely that I’d get actual chicken pox from the vax than in the wild since I have little interaction with children.

Then 1yr ‘til a shingles vax 🤷‍♂️
December 9, 2025 at 8:21 AM
It really is different for everyone: in my work team, for all the various COVID-19 vaxxes, we’ve had a range of no reaction (me, to any of them) to fairly difficult - with some reacting more to one vax type than another.

Lots of individual variation. I’ve been lucky so far. 🤞that continues..

Not really: unless things have changed, there are better pubs (though, TBF, not that many better locations).

Even so..
