Got it, thank you for clarifying! I appreciate it.

Can you elaborate? I don’t know what you are trying to say here.

I know that you can't confirm this for obvious reasons but without thinking about it, I read this quote in Zoran Krneta's accent "“I haven’t watched one game since we were eliminated,” one general manager candidly said. “I don’t care who wins.”

Is there a threshold the fee has to hit for it to be converted into GAM/what is the max that can be converted? I’m curious if this impacts Rothrock discussions.

It is really going to be weird playing the Timbers on 7/16 without Cristian Roldan but at least the team may be able to support him for the final

A tradition like no other

This is a home run for MLS

Oh I didn’t realize it was a mutual option to buyout. I thought only Apple had the ability to opt out. That makes a lot more sense and guarantees they see firsthand what the growth looks like before heading to the negotiating table (assuming they want to re-up).

The league is obviously banking that the new schedule + new roster rules + world cup will rocket fuel to a new media rights deal that's more lucrative. The downside seems pretty minimal for them while the upside seems obvious. The Apple side is pretty strange.

I'm curious why Apple was incentivized to make this change outside of this not being a long-term strategy for them.

The extra $50M upfront combined with the recent schedule change is interesting. I'm wondering if this is going to go to the clubs in support of upgrading facilities for cold weather.

Not to mention how many MLS games are bizarre in June due to Gold Cup/summer tournaments etc
November 14, 2025 at 1:06 AM
This is an underrated & huge move. Gives more leverage to MLS teams when negotiating.
November 13, 2025 at 10:01 PM
Tucked away in this is that for the first half of 2027 before the official changes - the league will have a mini-season (with presumably MLS CUP). I am really not looking forward to the discourse when the Timbers win this and claim that it was the most impressive trophy to win since MLS IS BACK 2020

Thoughts on this Joe?

Sounders
3-4-1-2
Yeimar Ragen Zimmerman
Rothrock Rusnak Roldan Roldan
Ferreira
Musovski Morris.

Assuming sale of Obed with influx of GAM + maybe letting Kent walk.

2014 Sounders?
November 9, 2025 at 8:54 PM
I know he had a couple moments but I thought Morris looked pretty bad on RW. Unconfident in space and he’s not going to take people on. I think it’s a massive question for 26. Danny did an awesome job and nearly broke the record for most goals in a season for a Sounder. Hard to bench that guy.

Yes, to be clear the scheduling definitely needs work. But it pretty much forces the teams (and fans) to hate one another by the end. I’m guessing Seattle/MN games next year will have more juice.
November 9, 2025 at 1:18 AM
This Miami - Nashville game could turn this into an all-time day for MLS.
November 9, 2025 at 1:12 AM
(Whispers - this format is good?)

I think I’m officially on board
November 9, 2025 at 1:11 AM
Would guess that was why MLS’s officials determined not to have Obed Vargas retake his attempt.
November 9, 2025 at 12:28 AM
Yeah seems like a pretty dumb rule. The angle gets impacted by a keeper moving off the line. So it impacts things every time. But obviously the rule leaves room for that not to be true.
