I used Faint to heal and was able to make my argument eith the DM because I was in bed when it happened and I argued that the faint would segue into a healing sleep.

I second this. It can be refreshing to work with a system designed to promote finding solutions other than combat. While there is still potential substantial conflict, at least it isn't just bashing one another. And there's the possibility of a scenario that promotes collaboration between all.
