@mikestabile.bsky.social
First Amendment rodeo clown. Policy Director at Free Speech Coalition, co-founder SWR Data, among other things. Personal account, all outrage / nonsense here is my own.
Remember this when you see scare headlines about the high rate of minors seeing “porn” online: They’re either not seeing it on porn sites or what they’re seeing isn’t actually porn.

It turns out minors not necessarily know what “porn” even is.

Just got a mailer promoting a Gab.com 2026 calendar. I refuse to believe that we can not defeat the right when they live in this weird softbrain fantasy world.

And, in what should be an automatic coda to any article about women's consumption of sexual material, anything good in erotica most certainly could not apply to porn. For ... reasons.

Sexy words: good. Sexy pictures: bad.

Society has so many weird rules about how women get off.
November 17, 2025 at 6:05 PM
Of course, there's some Times-y hand-wringing over women confusing well-hung minotaurs on a milking farm with real-life. It's literally fantasy! Like most media!

"Food Network viewers may be developing unrealistic expectations about their dinner."

I don't really want to dignify this nonsense with a response, but:

*porn is still everywhere
*you can still masturbate without it
*men are not the only ones who do either
*a once great nation brought to its knees by male irritability

The doctor's name is Dix.

Am I being punked.

Guys I've made it. I've made it into a fundraising email for Exodus Cry.

It's shocking to watch the Right, which has campaigned on freedom and free speech and "don't tread on me" for decades, immediately bite its pillows and say ACKSHUALLY when it comes to sex, freedom is bad.

Their "celebration" here is that AV is dissuading adults.

If this is what terrifies them, if this is this what they view as an existential threat, if this is what they feel they need to bring the full resources of the state to squash, I'm going to go out on limb and say they're maybe not the great and powerful force they claim to be.

"While yes there is a First Amendment and yes this event is 18+ and yes this is a private theater .... WHAT IF THESE DEMONS CAME ON TO THE STREET AND EXPOSED THEMSELVES TO CHILDREN"

This is the head of law enforcement in the state of Florida.

The Florida Attorney General is demanding a Pensacola Theater cancel a drag Christmas pageant calling it demonic, obscene, anti-Christian and a threat to public health.

Ten years in prison for tipping a cam model to masturbate.

The Crime and Policing Bill is working overtime to re-criminalize sex work ... which I guess will give them crime and more funds for policing.

Guys I know things might seem dark but @anniesprinkle.bsky.social continues to be magic, continues to be holy and, with the amazing Beth Stephens, continues to show how the radical power of sex and art can fight fascism, fight fear and maybe save the world.

I'll give you a US example:.

The main age-verification lobbyist — a man who largely believes porn should be outlawed — admitted the state-level bills he pushed for won't work and were really a predicate for federal action.

He wants the DOJ to seize domains.

After initially confirming the project to Tech Radar, Ofcom went silent when pressed on questions about what data was being monitored, what privacy protections were in place or who the company doing it was.

"“It’s only the beginning as there’s still so much violent pornography that is completely legal in the online world and completely illegal in the offline world,” Baroness Bertin told BBC Radio 4. “The government has to use this as a first step to try to address that balance.”

"...even if it's consensual, it harms society"

hmm where have I heard that before.

Could you imagine being so "alpha" that you're salivating at the prospect government telling you what you can and can't watch?

I guess "Choke me daddy" is what conservatives say to politicians controlling access to the internet.

The Right: Calling us fascist is violence. Calling us Nazis is violence.

Also the Right: We should seize the presses just like Franco, Mussolini and that guy who ran the National Socialist movement in Germany whose name I’m forgetting.

Remember, there's no claim here that his kid (or anyone they know of) actually read this book.

But they don't want anyone to access it. They don't want anyone represented. And they will not stop with school libraries.
November 6, 2025 at 11:46 PM
"Our proposal is to remove this book as well any other books exploring topics of sexual identity in children district wide."
November 6, 2025 at 11:43 PM
Christian conservatives are attempting the real time erasure of an entire community, using social justice language to reframe existence as abuse.

It's happening online and off, on social media and in schools. We need to call it what it is, a pretext for violence and repression, and fight back.

And dumber than a box of rocks.

It used to be sort of fun to engage him on issues of obscenity and the First Amendment but he had so little knowledge of either that he'd ultimately just resort to calling me a pervert and blaming my "overbearing mother"
November 6, 2025 at 6:34 PM
"Porn" is almost always the witch, though the rise of cultural fascination with this specific form of sexual dominance (from hands on neck to breath play to non-consensual choking) are much more complex.
November 6, 2025 at 2:15 AM
The history of moral panics is a history of anecdotal evidence and the personal disgust censors being used to suppress depictions and discussions of sex and sexuality.

They succeed because people assume those connections must be true, even the data rarely show it is.
