I said it last night, and I'll continue to say it: For as much as sports games continue to be ignored at showcases, award shows, and elsewhere in the industry, they are always the best-selling games before even getting into microtransactions. They deserve to be recognized more.

For August, 3 of the top 5 games were sports titles:

1. NBA 2K26 (On the market for two days)
2. Madden 26
5. College Football 26

Even the two EA football bundles were in the top 10.

Not gaming industry related, but still a bit similar. I went through a phone interview for a position and was asked to provide a code project. Turns out, it was all an act, and they did it just to say they "looked at other candidates". They had a candidate they were planning to hire from the start.

The worst overlap with these stories and my own experience is when they just remove the job altogether, I have had art tests go unanswered as the company chose to not hire anyone and dropped everyone who applied and interviewed and it’s avoidable if they just worked out if they even can hire anyone.

The new The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus album is the closest they've come to Don't You Fake It since that released in 06.

It's a fantastic record that I can't recommend enough.
