Ooh, je pourrais écraser un raisin.
Well this is a whole lot better since I became more jazz curious/tolerant. It has a fairly swinging instrumental version of Ain't That Peculiar on there.

It was all about the 2nd movement on the 8th for me although I recognised the 3rd. Now on to No.9. This is way back on the 11th record so presumably less rated?
January 14, 2026 at 11:08 PM
On to number 8. This is on the first record in the set which appears to have the big guns on it.

Will that came and went largely without me paying much attention. Onto No. 6 which is standing out more.

Maybe a side or two before a chilly dog walk.

Another couple of 12" #WeekendSingles. It's a shame the 12" mix of Monsters & Angels was not released at the time; I really like it.

A couple of cheeky 12" #WeekendSingles to try and squeeze in before lunch. Extended Riddle goes out to @jimmyviz.bsky.social

Good morning! This batch of #WeekendSingles is mainly brought to you by the letter B. It includes the indie version of Black's Wonderful Life, which I think is the first of three different recordings to be released on 45. Starting top left, playing both sides. Same deal for second picture.

Those were filler lyrics, waiting for something better but they kept them in the end. There was no riddle. He appears to be a good sport as he didn't tell me where to go when I was a bit cheeky. I've outed myself as a fan but I'm very selective after the second album.

Let's see what no. 3 holds in store. On record 6, naturally.
January 8, 2026 at 10:48 PM
I picked this up some time back and never finished it. The top record suggests no. 13 was next in line. It feels like a good idea to late night play the them from the beginning. Perhaps one or two a night until I've heard them all. Starting about now. Of course, no. 1 on record 3! No. 2 on record 9.

My mistake. It was Music Talk (with a more mature vocal as he was older when he did the overdub). I've got Love A Go Go in stereo on a compilation. I don't recall which was the main draw for the album now.

Half an #AlbumAlmanac #WeekendSingles before I'm due to get dinner on. From eldest who may have been unaware of this until they were wrapping it up.

Coordinating dog ball.

#AlbumAlmanac #WeekendSingles part 3 brings an album from my Dad which didn't touch his hands in the purchase or official handing over process. He was aware he gave it though!
January 4, 2026 at 5:12 PM
#AlbumAlmanac branch of #WeekendSingles part 2.
January 4, 2026 at 3:23 PM
Good morning! Today's #AlbumAlmanac diversion from #WeekendSingles is this remixed version of "Made In Basing Street" by The Producers. This revisit is in my opinion far superior to the original mix, with better artwork too. Strangely divided across two sides, plus one track on side 3, then bonuses.

A good deal clicker than I would have liked.

Near Jazz Experience side 2 first play. Unusual for recent jazz explorations for me as 1) in stereo 2) from this century.
December 28, 2025 at 3:23 PM
I think I saw this suggested more than once as a great debut. I've only played side 1 already and that was probably a day or two before Christmas (it was a slightly early gift) and I'm keen to revisit it before getting on to side 2.

Good morning! Today's #WeekendSingles brings you mainly recently received gifts plus a find in a batch. The Don McLean 45 is a re-record (which I much prefer). Petula Clark's Downtown is sung in German. Starting top left then clockwise playing both sides, same again for second picture.

@markbedford.bsky.social Merry Christmas, Mark. My wife bought me Tritone for Christmas. Half time results this arvo suggest A Head is my favourite so far.

Double the number of notes in the bass line and you've got the great Madness b-side that never was.
December 26, 2025 at 6:16 PM
The kind of easy jazz that could have soundtracked a hundred black and white films.
