The interviewer asks: "Your tour also supported minority groups who are actively under attack by selling "Deport Conor Oberst" shirts to raise money for the National Immigration Law Center and launching the Poison Oak Foundation to fun LGBTQ+ organizations. Why was this important to the band?"

The response: "All of the trans advocacy we've done, it's personal to me because of people that I love that are trans. But, to me, to attack the immigrant population and the trans population, it is two perfect examples of the complete moral decrepitude of our politics right now. In my opinion, it's just complete and utter cruelty, and it should be called out as such. It makes me sad. It makes me want to fucking cry. We don't have that big of a megaphone, but we try to use it for making what I think are pretty simple, unarguable points."

Barely rained here all summer in Nova Scotia, and it's been ludicrously warm this month so far too. Looking forward to the season actually changing to be fair, I do enjoy my cold, damp, crunchy leaf season! 😸

Anyway, since it's pretty clear that the government (well, definitely this one and another one I can think of) isn't gonna do shit about this, it just means we have to keep yelling at money. Make calls, send emails, do it daily and keep makin' them sweat.

Expected but frustrating nonetheless. "Payment processors are able to choose who they process payments for, subject to any relevant requirements." But they're not taking payments for LEGAL content, surely that IS within government purview? So tired.

The Government recognises that it is important for businesses to have greater choice in the forms of payment that they can accept. The National Payments Vision, published in November 2024, set out the Government’s ambition for a world-leading payments ecosystem, where consumers and businesses have a choice of payment methods to meet their needs. Now, in Montgomery County, Maryland, where the case originated, the results are in.
