I push transit to its limits, while attempting to be entertaining.
I guess if the argument is "rural people suck and don't deserve anything" then sure.

Ontario Northland in Canada is a fully government-owned bus company that serves SUPER rural areas and regularly fills up its buses thanks to great timetables and amenities. It's fully solvent and actually makes a bit more than it costs! Rural transit can and should be done well.

Megabus is totally GONE in the US and England! The entire thing is a bust!

You could cut Amtrak's long-distance routes and save some money, but you'd leave a lot of rural communities stranded and lose so much political goodwill. I can't imagine that would be worth it.

Given how much the company is downsizing, I wouldn't count on the idea that Megabus is profitable!

Megabus doesn't exist in the US anymore, but my experiences taking them in the US and Canada have been...I would say the default slightly crummy experience you'd expect from an intercity bus company, which is fine!

(Well, "couldn't access")
January 10, 2026 at 7:45 PM
Nothing beats the time they locked us in the Denver bus station all night with our luggage locked up in a side room that that they couldn't access.

I've been on Greyhounds that have departed early with other passengers TELLING THE DRIVER that people got left behind, and the driver completely ignore them. So...yes.

All hail!

Why? It's fun!
January 6, 2026 at 5:57 PM
Well said!

Thanks so much! I haven't looked at this in a while, it was very fun to put together.

Good point, and I am not!

Absolutely
January 2, 2026 at 6:30 PM
There's a real shared camaraderie on those buses!
January 2, 2026 at 6:29 PM
Thank you so much!!

To be fair that same series had some pretty strong words about Winnipeg 🤪 (But I appreciate it! I guess I just speak my mind, whatever those thoughts may be...)
January 2, 2026 at 5:38 PM
Haha, fair enough!
January 2, 2026 at 5:21 PM
I mean, you could argue that I'm doing something similar. But I hope that I'm going into it with better intentions, even if my video style is more entertainment than anything.
January 2, 2026 at 5:13 PM
Hell, even Canada does intercity buses DECENTLY well, even if it's a bit of a patchwork with some companies performing better than others - but nothing even remotely approaching Greyhound's level.

Oh wow, that's great to hear! Definitely where you are in the country plays a role - in my experience things go south in terms of delays, station locations, staff treatment of passengers, etc. once I get west of Pittsburgh. The coasts seem to have it alright.
