Review of "Neuroscience for Dummies, 3/e, by Frank Amthor"

Pro: The discussions on cell biology are accessible and interesting to a non-biologist.

Con: There is more terminology for areas in the brain than I can keep straight.

Summary: A worthy read about how the brain works and I recommend it.

Mock letterpress rollers! New rollers cost $200 but I just want to restore the look, not make it operational. I cut two pieces from a wooden closet rod, painted, and inserted metal pins (3/8" x 1.5" – $10). Not bad for basement scraps.

Bottom line up front (BLUF): This is a good place to start a consciousness studies journey but requires patience because the page count is twice what it needs to be. Excellent survey of consciousness with well documented references, but skip the last 3 chapters and it will be a better read.

Restoring a Kelsey Excelsior letterpress! It needs rollers which are expensive ($200). Wondering how to find an inexpensive substitute. Not planning to actually print with it but would like to restore the look.

I made this with OpenAI's DALL•E 3. It is much better with hands, feet, and eyes but it still isn't perfect. I didn't try to fix the mom's fused hands because I think it adds to the interest.
