This has only affected fall anime so far, so I don't think any dubs have been affected yet. But broadly, dubs aren't necessarily *more* popular, and are still negatively affected by this

It's a newsletter. Most of the readership comes from people who want a newsletter on the overseas anime industry, so that's how it's formatted.

I'm happy when something like this can bring in a more general audience but it's not the point of the newsletter.

It’s important to note that having typeset subtitles was very operationally expensive for them, requiring to encode every language with burned in subs as separate videos. There is no good way to support “soft” typeset subs on anything other than a computer.

🇲🇽 Mexicans were 1.5x more likely to see Demon Slayer on opening weekend than their counterparts north of the border 🇲🇽

North America had the biggest ww opening in box office $$, but seven other territories had a bigger presence accounting for population, including Hong Kong, Korea, Chile, & Peru!
