YUM!!! Saba is my favorite 🤩🐟
miloblue.bsky.social
I totally did it to myself. And also, it's all love... I'll get to see some of my favorite folks.

I don't know what to say about this, as I get ready to head to my 3rd zine tabling event in a month tomorrow, other than @sheerspite.bsky.social nails it.

As both an attendee and organizer of zine, zinelibrary and rad events, there is so much for us to do still to make the days-of awesome for all.

I don’t think I know too many people here who are local to me, but I’m really excited about this so I’m putting it here

We now officially have a Baton Rouge #Zine Club!!!!

A place/time to hang out and make #zines, share zines, and meet other folks doing the same 💜💜

we call it a Twin Spin... and also, I wonder if you could use iTunes rating system and smart playlists to make a weighted one where that's more likely to happen?

We have a Sandy Berman file in the archive at QZAP, which includes correspondence and a copy of a petition to add "Anal Fisting" as a subject heading to LOC.

He also moderated the panel where I met my ZFF @zinelib.bsky.social 20+ years ago, and I'm forever thankful to both. 💖

Elliott's hand is holding a paperback copy of Larry Mitchell's queer masterpiece, The Faggots & Their Friends Between Revolutions. The cover is bright red with black curly text and a surreal illustration of some beautiful faggots at the top of the cover.

Looking forward to the AI garbage backlash that results in hand-written, hand-drawn, grainy photocopies like the best punk zines of the 80s.

We will be tabling at Beet Street in Milwaukee this Saturday from 1pm - 7pm-ish.

This street festival is organized and hosted by our friends at Cactus Club, and looks like it's going to be rad as fuck.

Details here:

Image is a psychedelic ameboid frame with purple, green and pink flowers and over a black and white image of two male sailors kissing each other.

Probably still black, as that will best fit my Smiths/Depeche Mode/New Order cassette collection

Zines. Potlucks. Punk shows in parks. Someone cute writing their phone number on your hand. The kids crave authentic moments unmediated by big tech.

So I'm stoked to give this a listen over the next couple of weeks and see how it holds up.

*Microserfs also played a pretty big role in how I think about building better worlds through pop culture, technology, and chosen or logical family, and I think we don't talk about it often enough.
miloblue.bsky.social
I haven't read the original edition in over a decade, and since it took place in CompuServe/AOL/IRC style chatspace I had relegated it to "cute-and-sexy CyberNostalgia" like the movie Hackers and Doug Copeland's Microserfs*.

This novel literally changed my whole life when I first I read it in 1998. It introduced some advanced concepts of gender to me, and got me thinking about my own. Introduced neopronouns, inspired me to start publishing Mutate (1999-2008), which in turn has led me to being an enby zinester at age 51.

And in a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, MY copy arrived yesterday with a generous bag of buttons as well. Oops 😏

If they aren't online then they can't be exposed to the most evil of social contagions, teh trans, which will only lead to antifa communism, so, yeah, protect those children, I say!

Have you been to the shop that’s two doors west of Lost World of Wonder in the same strip as American Science and Surplus? It’s weird and fun… I got the 3rd Gayest Ken ™ there…
