I've heard every "we have to hit them where it hurts" argument in the book, and none of them are beating the allegations that people just want to make fun of fat bodies.

You are telling every fat person in your life that they disgust you, that their bodies are comical or degenerate or useless. You are telling every fat person in your life you don't respect them.

Eight thousand iterations of this discourse later, there is no political utility in calling fascists fat. All you're doing is propping up the brutal hierarchy which lets people like them work up from deniable social torture to state violence.

Sadly no amount of tinkering will make my laptop as cool and sexy as a notebook 😔

Serious answer though, I mostly mean that I find it easier to write away from any screens and distractions, especially for first drafts and brainstorming, so the notebook works really well for me, and are fun!

But mostly I can't focus if I have internet access so the notebook is better for me than a laptop

I love my worldbuilding notebook. Writing longhand is cooler and sexier than typing plus you get to do silly little doodles in the margins

Oh 100%, I've done a couple runs since completing the game and I literally groan every time I run into Chronos. It's almost embarrasing. You can feel the cavities forming it's all so saccharine.

Have not dug deep into the postgame yet because I was so turned off by the ending, though I'm sure I'll keep chipping away at it. Story aside, the gameplay is still outrageously fun
miloneuman.bsky.social
Fair enough! For me, it was too tidy and cloyingly sentimental without earning its sentiment. Given the stakes the story gestured at, to resolve things with what amounted to flicking a light switch from "bad" to "good" really felt like a betrayal of expectations, not a satisfying subversion of them

This looks awesome, I'll definitely check it out!

You know what, the best thing I can say about the Hades II ending is that it's genuinely very funny how many hours you have to put in to reach it considering just how deeply unsatisfying it is. It feels like being pranked. It's the shaggy dog story of videogames

I try to not just be negative about popular media on here but this one really baffled me. I'm surprised few people seem to be talking about it because it's really striking how much of a fumble it was.
miloneuman.bsky.social
I won't spoil it, but however dumb you think it could be, it's somehow even dumber. Hades 1 had a story that just kind of fizzles out as it goes, but it's lightyears better than this one. I genuinely wonder if they didn't have an ending figured out and had to rush something out the door for launch
miloneuman.bsky.social
Hades II is fun, but I just hit the credits and gotta say, don't think I've ever seen a story fail to stick the landing so badly. Really disappointing, just a failure of a finale on every level.

I have said many times, Sanderson is personally nice, but so what. Nice is cheap. He pumps money into a hate organization. That he can launder his own reputation effectively is the only think separating him from Rowling.

Only 1 person in the whole study went from identifying as trans to not identifying as trans. The 1/5 number came from youth going between the binary and non-binary spectrum.

This headline and post are misleading on purpose to fit the economist's editorial bent on the political issue.

A recent study found that children who transitioned young retained stable gender identities over time. But the fact that nearly a fifth of those in the group did not ought to give advocates of irreversible medical interventions pause
How stable are the gender identities of younger children?

Anyone who believes they know better than everyone else what constitutes healthy sexual expression and experience is a stone-cold psycho.

Restricting the expression of sexuality through fiction and art made by adults, for adults – including those you find personally disturbing or offputting – is conservative censorship, full stop. When that censorship disproportionately affects subgroups, that's also discrimination. For shame.

i. We allow consensual adult sexual content, including fictional depictions, when appropriately labeled and subject to appropriate age restrictions.

Re-upping this one. While there's plenty of real danger, the regime's leaning on ominous proclamations lately for a reason and it ain't because they have the level of widespread control and acceptance they wanted.

One reason the fascists are using terror tactics, bellowing draconian threats and demanding compliance so loudly is because they have real weaknesses around numbers and capacity. Their grip is weaker than it looks and the resistance they're already getting scares them.
