Very glad to see these red lines. As a global AI powerhouse this is an area where #Canada can be an important leader. Good place to start is autonomous weapons aka #KillerRobots @evansolomon.bsky.social @anitaoakvilleeast.bsky.social @mark-carney.bsky.social @minesactioncan.bsky.social

Today marks 80 years since the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Dr. Terumi Tanaka, hibakusha and co-chair of Nihon Hidankyo, reminds us we need to act on nuclear disarmament now and we have the solution in our hands: the #NuclearBan Treaty.

Military action is not the solution. The US must stop all strikes immediately and return to diplomacy. This path leads away from disaster and toward real security.

US intelligence itself doesn’t believe Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons. The attack has no legal justification and risks a regional conflagration. Attacking nuclear installations is also specifically banned by international law.

ICAN condemns the United States’ illegal military action against Iran’s nuclear facilities.
By joining Israel’s strikes, the US is violating international law and putting global non-proliferation efforts at risk.

Picture-perfect. Stunning. National treasure. Beautiful. Awe-inspiring. Gorgeous.

There are many ways to describe #Kananaskis, Alberta, but this week the only word that comes to mind is:

Disappointing.

This is indeed sad news. I was fortunate to work along with my @minesactioncan.bsky.social colleague @erinlynnhunt.bsky.social and the late Paul Dewar of the NDP to ensure that #Canada became a State Party of the Convention of Cluster Munitions. My condolences to his family.

I am saddened by the passing of the Honourable Marc Garneau.

A true trailblazer and the first Canadian in space, he inspired many of us through his service and achievements.

My heartfelt condolences to his wife, Pam, and the Garneau family.
