Another example of ICE using deceit & coercion in attempting to induce an immigrant prisoner to “self-deport” — even though a court had already ordered her release:

“ICE agents had been pressuring her to self-deport while I had been working to get the judge's order
effectuated.”

Of course the Equal Protection clause of the 14th amendment bars the other half. The law can't protect some more than others. So, the conservatism defined by Wilhoit has been unconstitutional since 1868. Go figure.

That is, the government can't constitutionally use the criminal justice system to retaliate. Basically, the 8th amendment bars half of Wilhoit's definition of conservatism. The law can't bind some more than others.

It is clear that retaliation is not lawful. It is not constitutional. The 8th amendment bars cruel and unusual punishment. The government can't inflict "A severe punishment that is obviously inflicted in wholly arbitrary fashion." [Furman v. Georgia]

Immigration agents are retaliating for our state and local governments exercising their right to no cooperate with the federal government.

Immigration agents are retaliating for our voters choosing leaders that the Trump administration dislikes.

Instead, immigration agents are just beating people (or worse), and leaving them to bleed on the street. That's not "law enforcement". That's retaliation.

... People who commit crimes are famously "innocent until proven guilty". Law enforcement officers aren't empowered to punish lawbreakers -- they're empowered to arrest lawbreakers to that they can be charged, tried, and, if convicted, punished.

Immigration agents are retaliating against aspiring immigrants for exercising their right to due process. Prospective immigrants should get their day in court!

Immigration agents are also retaliating against people who may have committed crimes, which violates their rights...
