Cruelty is the only plausible motivation for any of this. Cruelty for those detained. Cruelty for those who are afraid of detention.

ICE has grabbed so many people from their vehicles that there are abandoned cars across Minnesota.

This tow truck driver returns the cars for free as a public service, and he’s been getting death threats.

They hate the helpers.

Legally here on a work permit. Arrested when he went to renew it. Not fighting his deportation. Yet he's been in detention 29 days. No access to a lawyer. Has been given no information about his case. Family inquiries also ignored. ICE only responded when local news requested comment.

Another example of ICE using deceit & coercion in attempting to induce an immigrant prisoner to “self-deport” — even though a court had already ordered her release:

“ICE agents had been pressuring her to self-deport while I had been working to get the judge's order
effectuated.”

‘One officer told me that I "had no chance of returning to Minnesota" and that "the best thing for (me] is self-deportation." …
She offered me $2600 to self-deport.
I refused.
I wanted to talk to my attorney.
They didn't tell me the judge had already ordered my release and return to Minnesota.’

The Hennepin County Jail already provides legally required information to ICE.

Using local taxpayer resources to further assist the federal government in civil immigration enforcement is inappropriate.

Meet Thi Dua Vang!
- In the US legally (Asylum from religious persecution)
- Detained by ICE for almost 2 weeks (and lost her job)
- Almost deported!
- Continues to be harassed by ICE!!
- Afraid to go outside!!!
