Dear @chrisminnsmp.bsky.social if you’re going to tackle hate speech on signs in a protest, how about you take a look at hate speech in The Australian and on Sky News first? They reach more people than a protest sign, and the temperature of racist white Australians also needs to come down. #auspol

There isn’t one way to be sad. Weaponising women’s tears, or the lack of them, has also been used against rape victims seeking justice in legal settings. It has misogyny at its core. Sussan Ley MP is a disgusting politician. #auspol

‘I haven’t seen Penny Wong shed a single tear’: Ley takes fierce personal swipe
Ley raised her voice and smacked the lectern during a press conference as she criticised Wong’s absence from Sydney since the Bondi attack.

Every day this week The Australian has written against the PM. Today they’re disparaging young people. I am sick of biased, ineffective media that cultivates hate, class divides, and dissatisfaction. #auspol

Across 2025 there were 184 reviews published on Does My Bomb Look Big In This? covering 67 different Sydney suburbs & 36 distinct cuisines. We did a lot of NSW road trips this year, covering 68 places in wider NSW & Victoria (37%). I’ve narrowed that down to 10. #food

By Sang hustles too fast to savour their excellent quality fishes. We lacked the real estate to have every dish we’d ordered arrive before we finished our opening dish: the sashimi omakase ($104/24 pieces). This added stress when really we should have been savouring the way bluefin tuna melts… #food

Reverse parking amidst 6 lanes of traffic on King Georges Road in Beverly Hills isn’t easy. However, my newfound obsession with Sushi Bar Hiro has seen me do it twice this month already. With a skill level that surpasses many of Sydney’s Japanese chefs, Hide Takahashi works his magic... #food

When every table has a sign pushing Google reviews, it means you can’t trust the restaurant’s ratings. This is unfortunate for Summit to Pyramid, because dishes like fatta ($28), would likely attract positive reviews, organically. Topped with crispy onions, it’s a celebratory Egyptian dish. #food

Sydney’s definitive upmarket, contemporary Canto-palace is definitely Grandfathers. It’s by far the best of the batch of newcomers that opened in the last year or so. Admittedly, the menu here ventures beyond remaking Aussie-Cantonese favourites with fancier ingredients… #food

Green Peppercorn Express is an offshoot of the Invathong family’s original Fairfield restaurant, Green Peppercorn, which opened in 2012. The menu is a story of migration. Like many Laotians, political instability saw the Invathongs flee Laos over to Thailand after the Vietnam War. #food

Letra House is in the basement of its Love Tilly Group sibling, Palazzo Salato. You enter through a not-particularly-high-heel-friendly cobblestoned archway in Kent Street’s wine bar district. Basements are not the most salubrious of spaces, but, if you’re familiar with this hospitality group… #food

There’s still time to get down to A White (Bay) Christmas at White Bay Power Station. Spread across the boiler house and turbine hall, there are more than 90 stalls, covering all your Xmas needs, from gifts to treats, to alcohol. #Sydney

Single-use coffee cups are on the NSW Government’s agenda for phasing out. With a cute repurposed pallet ceramic cup library, The Blue Swimmer at Seahaven is ahead of the game. Perched overlooking Seven Mile Beach in Gerroa, this spot has more reason than most to keep our waterways clear… #food

With a good couple of inches of golden-crumbed chicken schnitzel protruding from both sides of its sesame-seed dusted bun, the buffalo chicken burger ($16) at Binners Farm Food Truck, is a man-sized handful of food. It’s a good intro to the food truck, located on the edge of Binners Farm shop… #food

There’s a slower pace to Berry since the bypass. The main road feels safe to cross, & parking isn’t The Hunger Games. Not that you’ll need to if you decide to stay at The Berry View; it’s a short enough walk from everything you need so you can park & forget about the car for the weekend. #travel

Soban by Joseon is a Sunday pop-up in a large cafe called Conservatorium, which sits right opposite Sydney Olympic Park Station. Street parking is for 30 minutes (6am–6pm) during their lunchtime operating hours. This isn’t lost on the kitchen, who churn out soban (tray lunches) fast… #food

Naive art depicts the proprietors—husband-and-wife John Evans and Sonia Grieg—in front of the pointy-roofed restaurant. Despite doing two sittings—the first with a strict 5.30pm start—South on Albany is the kind of spot that inclines you to unwind. #food

Amuro is my pick of Sydney’s sake bars. It’s tiny—just 20 seats—& tightly spaced with intelligent service. While a bar at heart it has a menu big enough to make a meal out of it. The first thing you’ll notice in the otherwise minimalist concrete, glass & timber space, are the chopstick rests… #food

Grey storm clouds, shafts of golden evening light, & sweltering humidity saw a flying termite swarm herald our arrival to The Berry Hotel. Lured in by a voucher from The Berry View Motel promising 2-meals-for-$35, we’re disappointed to find it eliminates most of the menu, bar for pub classics. #food

Salwa’s Garden feels like the last hold-out in a railway suburb that has begun its inevitable upward climb. The 1913 cottage and its well-tended and colourful garden, is sandwiched between two multi-storey blocks, opposite Oatley Park, which itself dates back to 1888. #food

As we make our way through to our table through Jane Surry Hills’ happy hour crowd, we’re recommended the flatbread ($14), “but only if you’re on statins”. Stuffed with spinach, leek and Cheddar, it sounds temptingly rich. We had our hearts set on the set menu ($95/head), or I would have… #food

A bevy of women clad in yellow-strapped denim aprons gaze at me expectantly. The front of house team at the family-run Slowbreads in Roseville, led by Rychelle Kiely, is certainly eager to please. My order passes through at least 4 pairs of hands. While the cumquat snail ($6.50) was sold out… #food
