Hey! Here, have a pinned thread of my writer stuff.

First, my debut poetry collection came out in June. I'm proud of it. Readers have said it's good, so that's cool. You can get it all the usual places—my favorite is asking an indie bookstore to order it for you via Ingram.
My book when it was at Schuler Books in West Bloomfield and it was front facing on a shelf! How cool is that? The cover is green with yellow text and highlights. The publisher, Match Factory Editions, has a house cover style, so all their books have the same clamshell pattern (like a vintage matchbook!) but in different colors. You can see a bit of the books on either side. It was next to Best American Poetry and a biography of Nina Simone, who is probably one of the coolest human beings ever.

In other headlines today (non-fascism BS variety): Hotdamn, A'ja Wilson. I have approx. 7 new injuries after rec league. And America's beloved Detroit Tigers.

Wow, that is what we call a home run.

Shams is doing all the heavy lifting. I just toss him softballs to crush. 😁

Oh absolutely! Wordsworth too. "I wandered lonely as a runner left on base..."

Mashy mashy. Deeetroit!
mitchnobis.bsky.social
Further evidence is suggesting that yes, yes it is.
mitchnobis.bsky.social
Even better when they mash it?
mitchnobis.bsky.social
Absolutely. I think they have been pretty much all year.

Looks like the game where the goal is to hit the ball with a baseball bat goes better when your guys hit the ball with a baseball bat. 👍🏼

This dude slept through every New Testament reading in church for his entire life, huh.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Ha, I literally muttered "What are we, Philly?" at the TV.

We just like to let them know that we *could* get hits and runs if we really wanted to. Tigers are making sure they really appreciate it.

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

I jumped the gun. We're back in an examination room, but still no vet. The rain canceled both boys' baseball practices, though, so if the Tigers ever do play, we can watch it. Got that going for us. Anyway, Carlos Guillen. That's a fun entry in "remember a guy."

Addendum to complete the picture: what does Comerica Park hold, 40,000+? There were maybe 5,000-7,000 of us still there by extra innings. At most. Just an amazing time.
mitchnobis.bsky.social
Anyway, time for the vet. Eat 'em up, Tigers.

And it wasn't just the beers. The game went so late, they had to stop serving pretty early on, and everyone just kept having a blast. It was and remains in my memory one of those pure examples that when we take away the BS, people are actually pretty cool.

The ushers actually did the cool thing they should always do in these situations: They didn't check tickets when you went to cop great seats. Everyone cheered EVERYTHING.

So this crowd was FULLY lubricated by game time, but the cool part is the delay was so long, the only people still there when the game started REALLY wanted to be there.
