To be clear, at no point ever has Johnson cleaned a clock

Terrible idea - bad economics and just sets up the tariff regime for more extortion/corruption (slush fund for giveaways to favored constituencies of all types). Get rid of the tariffs. And get serious about your job.

Dear everyone - you hate fascists, @radiofreetom.bsky.social hates fascists. Now that we recognize we’re all on the same team, use every tool at your disposal - your voice, your vote, your money, and, God forbid, when democratic options aren’t available, your fists - to go smash these hobgoblins

Objectively and sincerely, without an ounce of partisan emotion - this dude should lose his job teaching law

This guy isn't actually a law prof, right?

The current approach is necessary, but insufficient - yes, attack Trump on trade, but take the next step and be For Something and become the party of free trade

Democrats across the country are going all-in on attacking Trump’s global tariffs.

“The time is right for Democrats to lead again on trade,” Colorado Gov. Jared Polis told me.

Why Jared Polis Wants Democrats to Campaign on Free Trade
After years of trying to have it all ways on tariffs, Democrats are uniting in opposition to Trump’s global trade war.

Fair enough - but I’d say (respectfully): who cares? Does it matter? Does the strategy to fight back differ whether we’re in a fascist state or a pre-fascist state? (Partially directed to everyone arguing over this definition.)
mjasonhale.bsky.social
But fascism is an ideological project - fascists could be in a minority party that hasn’t yet gained control of government - and they’re still very much fascists. They don’t suddenly morph into fascists because they start controlling government and were something else before that
mjasonhale.bsky.social
This doesn’t make sense - it’s an “ism”, not an endpoint. Fascism as a project can exist while people still actively resist it with other “isms”. I think the issue is most conflate Fascism to equal to Nazism - incorrect. It can look more like Mussolini’s or Franco’s

100% - and it’s why so many associate Progressivism with being negative. Progressives should by their nature be optimistic, confident about adding more progress to the wins of yesterday- now they are sneering scolds who simply point out everything that doesn’t match up 100% on the bingo card
mjasonhale.bsky.social
I think many on the Left need to forfeit the label “progressive” - they don’t believe in progress, only perfection, measured via a backwards judging lens. Everything is, at its core, fundamentally terrible unless it measures up flawlessly with modern knowledge and sentiment

Brilliant post - as Hancox-Li says, when someone punches you in the face, you’re in a fight, whether you want to be or not. Democrats are not meeting the moment- process obsessed, risk averse, whining to the refs. It’s time to ditch the peacetime mindset. MAGA has a glass jaw, swing for it
liberalcurrents.com
“Peacetime breeds rule-followers. In war the rules go out the window. The old certainties become terrifyingly malleable. You are assailed on all sides by phantasms: and it takes a particular kind of moral courage to see your way through” www.liberalcurrents.com/democrats-mu...
Democrats Must Embrace War Mindset
We have exited a long period of peace and entered into a struggle not unlike war, in which all the old certainties have gone malleable and the future of the republic is at stake.

The generals and admirals at Quantico today should be forgiven if they walked out of the auditorium and wondered: What on earth is wrong with the commander in chief?

The Commander in Chief Is Not Okay
Trump put on a disturbing show for America’s generals and admirals.

Might be the least talented/effective of the D leaders, evidenced by responses like this- question: how did he get this far?

I’ll definitely go with your take but can’t help but think at least 49% of his statement can be chalked up to never negotiating a damn thing in his pampered professional life as an unqualified amateur at, well, everything

Take the issues most salient to worker progress - example, profit sharing - and enact them via (smart) legislation. Way more efficient than collective bargaining. And yes, cut ‘em loose
stephenjudkins.bsky.social
It is deeply unfortunate that these old-guard unions are no longer a reliable part of the Democratic coalition but, given that their membership is actively voting to destroy the institutions and hurt themselves, it's probably time for Democrats to just cut them loose

Suggestion: A strike of musicians, writers, hosts, actors, lighting, electricians--everyone, shutting down all TV studios, until Jimmy Kimmel is reinstated.

This is the kind of action we need, instead of sitting around just waiting to be gutted.

You mean the one we’ve been talking about since Trump 1.0 and you’ve done nothing to address? Glad they are now grousing to media, but no points for the cowardice

This is extrajudicial execution, without any clear threat to the US, no authorization from Congress, and far beyond even Article II. The military is not the president's personal hit squad.
Or wasn't, until now.

The US military killed three people in another deadly strike on a vessel in international waters around South America allegedly "transporting illegal narcotics" from Venezuela, President Donald Trump said in a Truth Social post. https://cnn.it/4na60EM
