It is a cold, rainy, generally unpleasant January day. I started taking down Christmas things. I felt a lot like weeping, if I'm honest. Then I remembered the last of the homemade shortbread someone brought over, and decided it was time for a cuppa.

I for one am glad to close the book on 2024. The end of a year is hardly a real ending but I need to feel something like closure anyway. Here's to reaching equilibrium.

I gave in and we watched Home Alone tonight, kicking off the Christmas movie season. We capped it immediately with Mickey's Christmas Carol. I can't claim to be in a Christmas headspace yet but it was a start.

I punted on a prior commitment tonight at my church. Between the padawan's ELA homework and today just being a big fat series of "nope," I just did not want to be with people.

I went to an HEB today that was boldly playing Christmas music over the loudspeakers, doing Christmas dinner raffles at the cooking counter, and having an HEB Buddy mascot with a Santa hat hand out stickers.
