I've written one book. Here it is, for any interested. Study Questions are in the bleet below.

Found out a couple of years ago that it was also translated into Portuguese (third bleet of 🧵).

Amen

And that final quote in the QT, I love the rest of it as well since it points me to the anchor of my soul:

"You [Jesus] have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God." (ESV)
To me, the hardest apologetic challenges for Christians are not logical, but existential -

~ problem of suffering & evil
~ hypocrites in the church
~ children leaving the faith

To those who struggle with these, I have no good answers except Peter's confession - "Lord, to whom else shall we go?"

Well said. And quoting a non-biblical source, when Frodo asked, “What are we holding on to Sam?”, Samwise responded, “That there’s some good in this world Mr. Frodo and it’s worth fighting for.” Cc: @catholickungfu.bsky.social

I almost skipped this segment on 60 minutes. The first room visited is that of Hallie Scruggs, a victim of the Nashville school shooting, and the daughter of a pastor in our small denomination. So sad. And sad this is how a PCA pastor makes it onto 60 minutes.

Not saying we are an autocracy, but this is literally the kind of thing autocracies do, to suppress opposition and free speech.

If something you help create lasts 1,000 years instead of just one, does it make any difference?

Only insofar as it blesses others.

And if you make something that blesses others that lasts one only year instead of a 1,000, that too will last forever.

I love coming across unusual architectural features, like this apparently circular room linking between two late Victorian buildings at the junction of Clarkston and Merrylee Roads in the Cathcart area of Glasgow.

Students are always shocked at that Wallace’s stand in the doorway, JFK going on TV to call for a Civil Rights bill outlawing segregation, & Medgar Evers’ murder all happens in the same 24 hour period.
MLK was 39 when assassinated (though 26 during the Montgomery Bus Boycotts ), Medgar Evers was 37 when he was assassinated, Malcolm also 39...what might Hampton have done with another decade or two, but perhaps that is why the FBI fears him. #JudasAndTheBlackMessiah #HATM

That brings us to tonight's #HATM questions:
1) Who do you want to see a biopic of?
2) And what is on the menu at your home tonight?

In about 30 minutes on @netflix.com. I've not seen this one, but *love* this era of history. I took a whole class in college on the year 1968 - that one year filled the semester, and then some.

Anyway, just in with us if you like. Just hit play at 8pm EST, then comment/follow along using w/ #hatm.
In all the American Revolutioning going on this week, I missed what @herberthistory.bsky.social picked for this Sunday.

I jumped over to the Insta and was pleasantly surprised to find that Judas and the Black Messiah is queued up for Sunday night #HATM

I’ve been wanting to watch it again 🤓

I am glad I watched the series on the American Revolution and believe it tells the most inclusive story I have ever heard on this era. The series conveys the lived experiences of numerous groups, rather than offering a blow-by-blow account of military maneuvers.

Incredible win by Duke. That fake field goal was 🤌.

Credit to UNC for roaring back from 14 down to take the lead late with 2 TDs and a 2 pt conversion.

Duke is now 🥣 eligible, so that's a bonus. 😈

Still thinking about that time a church planter for a key city was about to go on stage at our General Assembly to "sell" the work to about 1,000 ministers and elders.

His supervisor at the time came up to him right before his presentation and said, "Don't blow this!"

Sigh, church work sometimes.
