It's a nice thought... Sadly the pavement along there had been long sacrificed to cars.

But I'd assume in this case they'll get a drop kerb in like their neighbours. Expensive houses down there, they can easily afford it

But most people don't want challenges on their commute.

We have to understand the landscape as it exists and attempt to route around it as well as across it where necessary. At the very least we need to accept their doubts and worries. 2/

You're totally right. I have been trying to train this for years with fellow cycling advocates.

Even if 'we' don't think it's much of a hill, those new to cycling definitely will. I've heard campaigners trot out lines about how rewarding hills are, or the benefits of climbing 1/
