UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Data Science and Society has been up and running for just three years. Now, it will merge with the School of Information and Library Science in a change tied to artificial intelligence.
Why UNC-CH Revived a Plan to Merge Library and Data Science
Many questions remain about UNC-Chapel Hill’s plan to merge the schools of Data Science and Society and Information and Library Science.

Damn it, I was really hoping that the pic that didn't load would reveal a new album when I clicked through, not a cotton swab product

Did You Know? This was the average duration of any random mid-season Yankees-Red Sox game on FOX in the Oughts
Game 3 of the World Series lasted 6 hours and 39 minutes

Good -- I was hoping to see Eddy and Rempe split up, since if they can bring heavy forecheck to both lines.

I would like to see Cuylle and Laf or Panarin flipped. They both work from the outside and Miller generates a lot net front, seems like there could be some good interplay there.

Interesting point from John Flaherty before our pregame show: Luis Gil has a huge difference in his arm angle between his fastball and his changeup

Gil Avg Arm Angle This Season
4-Seamer 38°
Changeup 23°
(MLB avg arm angle is 38°)

Now that the regular season is over, I updated my numbers from several years ago on home run reliance, the percentage of runs that a team scores on home runs (aka "Guillen Number" as coined by @sheehannewsletter.bsky.social), and how that translates to hitting well in the postseason (thread)

Stats aside, can we all agree that the Yanks having a Wang and a Big Unit on the same rotation was hilarious? Who else from baseball history would round out that rotation?

My debut article for @athlonsports.bsky.social. The modern day NHL 3-peat hasn't been done. Could the Florida Panthers become the first team since the 80's Islanders' 4-peat to roll off 3-straight Stanley Cup championships? Thoughts below ⬇️

I am astonished that this is only Williams second blown save of the season. He's been good since the terrible early stretch but that stretch was SO bad.

Holy shit. This guy saved a PNG to a bird.

(he drew a bird into a spectrogram, played that sound to a starling, and the starling reproduced it back to him with enough accuracy he got his bird drawing back in their call's spectrogram) www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCQC...
