Today's Good Things:

I chose a topic for this week's blog post and started it, but barely. Didn't have a chance to work on it much.

A new season of SESAME STREET -- four episodes today. The show is undergoing some changes. I'm glad to see the Foodie Truck with Cookie Monster and Gonger retained.

Today's Good Things:

Les got home safely from the Wing Conference. I drove to church back and forth on my own, and I'm still alive. :)

Father Peter preached on the reading from Job; the usual Christian interpretation isn't what was meant by the original writer of the Hebrew scriptures.

Today's Good Things:

Sunny and in the 60s, mild enough to open windows.

An alarming malfunction of the bedroom TV speaker: A staticky roar that drowned out the dialogue. Good thing: Before I gave up and started to consider professional repair, it fixed itself. Odd.

Yesterday: A wine club box from Pearmund. Today: A wine club box from Boordy.

Today's other Good Things:

I sent interview questions to the author guest for my December newsletter.

Today's Good Things:

Freya, our shorthaired cat, was "missing" most of the day. Couldn't find her when we got up. Scary. In late afternoon, we found she'd been hiding in a downstairs closet all day and who knows how much of the night. Happy ending!

Today's Good Things:

Sunny and into the high 60s. Some windows were opened for a while.

Les's new computer monitor arrived (not the rest of the system yet).

I started on the December newsletter, mainly writing a few sentences of book reviews.
November 6, 2025 at 12:20 AM
Also Tuesday, November 4:

NIGHT TO DAWN magazine accepted my lighthearted vampire pumpkin story, "Night of the Living Gourd."
November 4, 2025 at 11:54 PM
Today's Good Things:

Sunny and (briefly) up to 60 degrees.

I uploaded this week's blog post.

Les ordered a new computer, since his current one can't accept Windows 11.

I read this month's RWA newsletter -- cleared from my e-mail the day it arrived. I do miss the former paper magazine, though.

Today's Good Things:

I started on this week's blog post.

Washed our bedspread for the first time in forever. The spin cycle handled it normally, which was my main concern.

I looked over the estate documents from the lawyer again, since we have an appointment with her this week.
November 3, 2025 at 11:58 PM
Today's Good Things:

All Saints Sunday, with the usual performances by the Peabody Ragtime brass band. Reverend Patti preached on the scary prospect of aspiring to be a saint.
November 3, 2025 at 12:17 AM
Today's Good Things:

The heavy wind from yesterday ended by morning. Sunny and not too cold today.

I uploaded and distributed my November newsletter.

Astral Plane cocktails in the afternoon again.
November 1, 2025 at 11:59 PM
Today's Good Things:

Giant has added hooks (for hanging purses) to the stalls in the renovated restroom.

I complained about the disappearance of wheat germ from the cereal aisle. They discovered it can still be ordered -- will be back in stock next week.
October 31, 2025 at 11:26 PM
Yesterday I received a (laughably tiny) royalty payment from Amazon Kindle.

Today's Good Things:

The rain stopped earlier than predicated. Some sun and almost warm in the afternoon.
October 30, 2025 at 10:57 PM
Today's Good Things:

The credit union came through for us already! The money stolen from our savings has been restored.

I wrote a paper letter to my aunt.

Received comments on the vampire pumpkin story (favorable, yay) from my critique partner quickly.
October 29, 2025 at 11:26 PM
Today's Good Things:

The tree experts arrived early this morning to remove six probably dying trees in the back yard.

I lightly revised the vampire pumpkin story and sent it to my critique partner.

The checkbook statement balanced with no trouble at all.

Mocha frappe from McDonald's.

Today's Good Things:

National Black Cat Day. My special cat in childhood was an all-black female named Midnight.

I uploaded this week's blog post.

Some bibliography work, transcribing titles from the internet onto index cards.
October 27, 2025 at 11:11 PM
Yesterday I tried the ecard account, sending Halloween cards to Les and myself. Works fine.

Today's Good Things:

Children's service at church. The kids' chorus performed several songs, and Father Peter preached a child-friendly homily.
October 26, 2025 at 11:10 PM
Today's Good Things:

Les delivered a bunch of paint cans, etc., to the county's hazardous materials drop-off event. It turned out to be easier and quicker than he expected. The workshop and side deck look noticeably better.
October 26, 2025 at 12:03 AM
Today's Good Things:

Grocery shopping finished earlier than usual. My whole-grain oatmeal bread was back in stock for the first time in quite a while.

I bought the Halloween giveaway candy, trusting it won't get eaten in the coming week.
October 24, 2025 at 11:15 PM
Today's Good Things:

I finished the first draft of the vampire pumpkin story.
October 23, 2025 at 11:26 PM
Today's Good Things:

Les had a periodontist appointment to have the other side of his mouth "scoured," so that's done for the foreseeable future.

Freya rested on top of the cat sleeping bag for a while. Nice to see it getting some use.
October 22, 2025 at 10:55 PM
Today's Good Things:

Bright, sunny day; almost up to 70 degrees.

October 20, 2025 at 11:11 PM
Today's Good Things:

Music at church by Wellspring (formerly the Third Sunday Band).

Rev. Patti preached on the Genesis reading about Jacob wrestling with God. She emphasized the importance and significance of names. Reminded me of Madeleine L'Engle's focus on naming in much of her work.
October 19, 2025 at 11:08 PM
Today's Good Things:

I added about 200 words to the vampire pumpkin story.

Discovered a very old Extra History series about the Articles of Confederation. Lots of historical facts completely new to me.
