Today's NYT op-ed by Jessica Grose highlights how the modern workplace is eroding the dynamics of care we used to take for granted. I see the same effects in my work supporting academic mentors. So many mentoring "fails" I witness have something to do with the mentor feeling overwhelmed or rushed.

We’re increasingly becoming a society where very wealthy people get human care, like concierge medicine and private schools with tiny class sizes.
