🇨🇦 I wrote a couple of novels, but let’s not go making a big deal about it. Working on a third book. Loves 70s movies. Opinionated.

I made a down-n-dirty, ugly as sin, barely workable, poor man’s plow plane. And yet, it got the job done.

Antifa since 1939.

Progress is being made. Little trees are taking shape nicely. They look better than these pics show. They aren’t in the same scale as the mountain ranges, but that’s by design.

Spurs. It’s a fun western board game. Once I get the mountains and forest terrains done my next task is to get, or 3D print, some small cattle players can round up. I’ve already printed a horse that took 11 pieces just to get the ears and skinny legs to print right. It’s only 1.25” long.

I’m making terrain!

I have no idea how many times I’ve watched this great flick. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore, says the 52 year old guy to a bunch of teenagers who really weren’t listening so they removed their noise-cancelling headphones and asked, “Wha’?”

Tingen and his favourite toy. It’s a plush Link (Legend of Zelda). He “hunts” it, tosses it around, and parades through the house with it before going to bed each night.

We have many stuffed toys like this for the dog, but even he knows Link is only for the cat.

I’ve been sharpening saws with files, trying to get skilled at it. This old beauty dovetail saw has little teeth alternating with 45 degree angles for crosscutting. Now, it’s sharp like tiny cat claws.

Good grief. I’m boring.

Progress has been made. Now, the top.

Someone painted this mid-century dresser/sideboard. I’m going to bring it back to glory. The veneer is thicker than the paper thin kind used today, so sanding it should be okay if I’m careful. Drawers not shown because I’ve already begun scraping the paint. The good news: they didn’t prime it.

You’re too kind, sir. The game gives players opportunities for gold prospecting. It came with little plastic stones, so I printed some larger rocks and painted them. Reach in the bag and hope to pull out gold. (Boba Fett for scale)

Thanks. This cowboy game (Spurs) is coming along. I also made ammo boxes for the different colours of cartridges you get in the game. Much better than dumping them into ziplock bags.

I made a railway track score counter complete with cowboy hats … that ended up looking like severed heads. Next for the cowboy board game custom work: elevated terrain sections for the game board.

I printed ol’ timey money for our western board game “Spurs.” It’s a little thing, but it improves the gameplay immensely. There’s nothing more fine than a fistful of dollars.

Each bill in the $1,305 lot has been cut, crumpled and pressed lovingly by yours truly.

I doubt a better t-shirt graphic exists. IYKYK.

I don’t know if I mentioned it here or not, and I’m too lazy to check, but I got my books into a local book store … and I’m actually selling. Local support came late in the game for me, but it happened.

My wife wanted a short paddle. So I made her one with traditional, non-powered hand tools The red stain looks really deep only because it’s still wet and I haven’t wiped off the excess. It’s crazy humid, so the tung oil coats are taking forever to cure.

It turn out reeeeeal purrrrrdy. I just need to source some antique keyhole plates for the drawers.

Before (orange, worn out varnish)
During (old varnish scraped off)

We made English floodies for the first time. They were great drizzled with maple syrup and topped with an over easy egg. Will definitely make these again.

Macon County Line (1974)

Come listen to my story about a man seein’ red, a racist county sheriff who found his wife dead in bed. And then one day he was shooting’ at two dudes, and up across the ground came a demarcation that’s no good.

Line, that is. Macon County Line.

This was very nearly going to be the cover for my second novel. I sat on this for the better part of a year while I kept writing the book. Suddenly, I knew it wasn’t what I wanted.
