Capitalism's dilemma: if I can't quantify it, how can I qualify it; if I can't measure it, how can I treasure it?

The hateful or nihilistic people that voted for Trump are lost to the left and you will not win them over by appealing to them. Maybe the lesson is to appeal more to the people who WANT the policies that Democrats supposedly already have

Rummaging thru a kitchen drawer at work, found this menu. The address has been a Starbucks for as long as I can remember. Apparently closed in 1997.

Lol for our Christmas party I got out these little cheese label things, but apparently they haven’t been used since a 2018 Oscar party, the chalk marker has dried on, and now, despite my best magic eraser-ing, they all semi-permanently say things like “The Shape of Watermelon” and “Phantom Bread.”

Theodore Dreiser: Greatest bad writer in American history.
(Am Tragedy: Sentence by sentence, ponderous. Cumulatively, in its 800+ page heft, magnificent.)

Can hardly believe that our English teacher, Mathilda Phillips at Redlands High, had us read and discuss the whole thing, chapter by chapter.
In #BookSky news, Boni & Liveright published Theodore Dreiser's magnum opus a century ago today: two volumes, in a slipcase. (Wish this first edition were mine, but it belongs to Baltimore shop Royal Books.) Filmed a quarter century later as the magnificent A PLACE IN THE SUN.

I was reminded that I have a Tumblr for my silly drawings and photoshopped nonsense. This one was the first in a surprisingly long series of a particular theme.

Did we learn nothing from our time with Reagan?
I wish the WH reporters would just band together and ask question after question until they get some real answers.
New in PN: A band-aid on a festering hand wound

"The Epstein files and illegal boat strikes aren’t the only coverups taking place right now in the White House. There’s also something clearly wrong with the president’s health that the administration is trying to conceal from the public."

Something's up with Trump's health and we should really find out what it is.

Yes Americans famously love austerity, especially when it’s pitched to them by a guy who was currently building a gold leafed ball room
Trump: "You can give up certain products. You could give up pencils. Because under the China policy, every child can get 37 pencils. They only need 1 or 2. They don't need that many. You always need steel. You don't need 37 dolls for your daughter. 2 or 3 is nice. So we're doing things right."
