This tallies with my past experiences, yes (I got stuck on Golgorand Execution Site and thought "I wonder if grinding will help", and it most definitely did), and I have little doubt that it will be the same with the new one.

I immediately followed it up with Rise of the Third Power which has become legitimately one of my favourite RPGs I've ever played. This game is REAL good. I was sad to learn the writer has moved on from games, but this is one hell of a legacy to leave behind. moegamer.net/2025/09/28/r...

Pete has done a wonderful blog post and FAQ on the Multisystem2, really great and very helpful for new and existing users 👍

Also want to give a shoutout to the excellent MiSTer Multisystem 2 from @heber-limited.bsky.social and @retrocollective.co.uk. Might be the best couple of hundred quid I've ever spent on a games console.

It’s FunFactor Fuuuuuuuuesday!

On this episode of @funfactorpod.com, @tyschalter.com and dig into rumours of Square leaving Nintendo for Sony, Bill Donahue’s height, personality-driven games media, and, of course, a deep dive into Game Players’ review of *in the Resident Evil voice* Resident Evil.

I remember being incredibly impressed at him taking ownership of his behaviour -- you can even see a comment from me in the archive! -- and consequently very disappointed when I next ran into him and he was abrasive, abusive and had taken to harassing people with multiple accounts.

Guy's an arse.

Something folks may find interesting about the... recent situation. This was posted in 2020 after TWRM alienated a big chunk of the folks who wrote for him by... well, acting like a cockwomble. web.archive.org/web/20201004...

About a year later, it was deleted, and he was back to his old tricks.

That's me. This is a candid admission. It's time to come clean and take a break, an opportunity for self-reflection.

I also played Master Detective Archives: Rain Code, a mystery game from the Danganronpa folks with a predictably gorgeous aesthetic, some great characters and some interesting ideas -- if a bit prone to the cast continually recapping the cases as they progress. moegamer.net/2025/10/04/m...

Then, I fancied some RPG action so I grabbed the double pack of Ara Fell and Rise of the Third Power that I got from Limited Run a while back. I was immediately taken with Ara Fell's interesting structure and lovable characters. moegamer.net/2025/09/15/a...

Ara Fell from Stegosoft is an excellent 16-bit style RPG that pays homage to classics like the Mana series, while carving its own identity.

I was also really saddened to hear of the passing of Billy Hudson from The Game Chasers, so I took a moment to record some off-the-cuff, unscripted thoughts. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHjq...

Video-wise, I decided to start playing The Granstream Saga, the PS1 quasi-follow-up to Quintet's SNES games. This is a game I've always been very fond of, and revisiting it has reminded me why. www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_39...

Hello. Decided to come back on a trial basis as I miss talking to some of you. Gonna keep the app off my phone, though. I don't need doomscrolling in my life, but it is nice to chat with folks.

YES. I'm all for games exploring tragedy in the classical sense, and both of those are great examples of such. I actually laughed when I read a Steam review of Hob's Barrow complaining it was "impossible to win" due to the nature of its ending. That game foreshadows Bad Things right from the outset!
