Just learned that this beauty has finally been translated into English and is now available for preorder. A classic study of narrative, it traces back the origin of folk tale stories, typical tropes, archetypes and structure. Cool read!

Can you imagine what a world would be like where polar bears could write autobiographies? This is what Yoko Tawada did in 2011 in "Memoirs of a polar bear" - a story of three generations of circus bears in a human-dominated world. A story of identity, celebrity and love.

Love these book boxes in Montreal! You can pick up a free secondhand book or leave one of yours for others to take and enjoy.
Sharing is caring, isn't?😊
Wonder if any other cities have something like this.

Second-hand books? In this economy? Of course 😍
Plus, you can often find real gems that are hard to get or no longer published (and older editions).
Do you have second-hand books in your collection?

Any manga lovers here? Can you recommend what to read next if I loved these two beauties?

I did note that the word “Canada” sounded beautiful and cool.
“Were you ever in Canada?” I asked him.
“No.”
“Do you know what sort of country it is?”
“A very cold one.”
When I heard that, I wanted to move to Canada right away.
(Yoko Tawada, "Memoirs of a polar bear")

There is nothing more refreshing than a journey to Middle Earth in the good company of a mojito on a hot summer day.

When you get your hands on the edition you've been wanting for years. Love Tolkien's art!

Who would've thought that writing long fiction would be so different from concocting a short story? 😅

re: generative AI

I have finally fully and accurately explained my problem with how it’s marketed and used.

And now, you can use it, too.
