This weekend I am playing John Cook, the man who prosecuted Charles I for waging war against his own people.

His final letter before being hung, drawn and quartered goes HARD.
Shortly before his death, aged 52, Cook wrote to his wife Mary: We fought for the public good and would have enfranchised the people and secured the welfare of the whole groaning creation, if the nation had not more delighted in servitude than in freedom.

Number Stations are 10,000% my shit, so I somewhat lost my mind when @sispurrier.bsky.social sent me this extract from the Fortean Times.
DEAD HAND LIVES Throughout the Cold War the airwaves resonated to the sound of mysterious "number stations" broadcasting strange sounds, strings of numbers and musical phrases. Not all of them went quiet with the fall of the Soviet Union; the Soviet UVB-76 radio station, also known as Buzzer, Dead Hand Radio or Judgement Day Radio, has re-mained live. For years it has mostly broadcast a buzzing tone, but in May, just before President Putin had a phone call with Donald Trump about Ukraine, it broadcast "NZhTI 89905 BLEFOPUF 4097 5573", and after the call, "NZHTI 01263 BOL-ΤΑΝΚΑ 4430 9529", before going back to the buzzing.
