Friends, heed my words. If your spouse quits their job one day (legitimately for the sake of their mental health), please keep them away from household “honey-do” projects for at least 24 hrs. You’ll save your sanity if you do. Ask me how I know. 🫣😂😢

This has been a rough weekend. Nice visit with extended family, but all I could think when we heard a couple is pregnant was “you have no idea”. It’s tough when you want to set boundaries with a kid, but the other parent isn’t as comfortable with that as you are.

Overjoyed with roses blooming at Thanksgiving in my garden. So grateful to have been able to move to NC.

Can someone please explain to me why there are so many safes and money boxes in camas in the Netherlands? That magnet fishing dude is constantly pulling them out of the water, along with bikes (which I expected).

Amazing how good a yummy dinner out and incredible college a cappella concert can make you feel about your life. Highly recommend. #grainsoftime

WTAF is the point in voting for Democrats if they back down in a simple game of chicken with the GOP? Disappointed.

Struggling to understand why people are upset that Jarry wore a Dodgers cap. Is it because Canada has some weird history with the UK? Good grief. Give the poor boy points for manners.

Why would my library system order the second book in a series, but not the first? Because they are dumb. That is my only explanation.

Been on here too long to remember if my original post got liked, but what the hey. Just posting to complain that my “no-work” bread stuck to the bottom of the enameled cast iron pot for the first time, and it’s making me sad. ☹️ 🍽️

Well kids, the phrase of the night here in Raleigh is “we’re gonna need a bigger vacuum!” 🙀 Some kind of mutant grasshopper bug took up residence on our wall, and we had to use the shop vac to get it. We did try to rescue it by flicking it out on the lawn. Not sure it worked tho.

Is it too much to ask for an evening where my young adult kid doesn’t have a crisis of his own making? I just want to relax and enjoy some free time. But no. F&&ing A, man.

@juliethecranky.bsky.social Had a “discussion” about a family menu thing he remembered and pulled out the recipes I have from his side. Found this and wondering if it sounds edible to you?

@scalzi.com My question is not “which Scalzi to read first”, but which to read *next*! I’m loving “Starter Villain”! In all honesty, I follow you because I like your posts, but I assumed your work was heavy sci-fi. Friend recc’d SV and I’m so glad. But which next, oh wise one?
