People who own/run news outlets like this think subscribers are like them and don’t care about or know the difference between good & bad writing. They’re not just wrong, they’re fucking wrong. I’m rooting for people who are starting their own thing and have a perspective & know how to use a pen

I learned a lot about writing just by reading Graydon Carter’s intros to each issue. The lede for this issue’s intro piece is, “So, why men?” I have nothing to learn from this publication; no one does.

I have to say I used to *covet* the Hollywood issue as a kid and asked for a vf subscription for Christmas like five years in a row without getting one so subscribing as an adult felt like a true luxury. watching the quality drop so much has frankly been a fucking bummer

the older I get, it's wild and a bit disturbing to me how things from my childhood are so fresh and basically constants in my brain compared to newer info/memories/etc.
