My first memory of the Xbox 360 was getting one along with Dead Rising, trying to play it on my CRT TV, and not being able to read shit (basically making the game unplayable).

What a fantastically terrible introduction to a new console.

Find you a girl that looks at you the way Trump looks at Mamdani.

Any argument of “he’s just being honest about his memories from the time and who the person was at that point in their life” instantly erodes as John can’t even say “she” when talking about Becky’s post-transition life.

You’re then putting actual effort into disrespecting someone and their life.
I just learned that John Carmack misgendered and deadnamed Rebecca Heineman in his "tribute" over on Twitter. He probably thinks it's okay when talking pre-transition days, but FYI, most trans people hate that. Worse, he never calls her "she," switching to "they" for recent memories. Fuck that guy.

I can't say I was the best of friends with @burgerbecky.bsky.social, but I met both her & Jennell when we were part of the first Press XY panel. We'd meet up again at future PAX panels.

They were incredibly kind and helpful to me at a point when I needed it. It's unfair that they're both now gone.

Not sure I have many PC people following me, but in case I do, if I wanted to think about a machine that could play games at 1440p/120fps that would run the Epic Game Store, what kind of price range would I be looking at?

For anyone who's never seen it, a fun little set of photos I took back in 2012 with the theme of a visitor to Japan finding and using a camera from an older era.

I remember having a Gizmo stuffy—possibly the one from the catalog page below—and taking him on a trip to the amusement park my mom took me on.

I had to wear a backpack and keep him in it the entire time because, OBVIOUSLY, he couldn’t be exposed to sunlight.
when I re-watched 'Gremlins' on VHS the next year, I adored it! I was also exactly the right age to totally love "The New Batch" in the theater, but I fear that this new one will be CGI slop. Also, it's hard to convey just how hard merchandise for the original PG horrorshow was aimed at kids

Got the LRG release of Snow Bros today, and the case is… yuck. The clear plastic is super cheap, so it’s warped all around the top open edge on all sides.

Me: Walks into US conv store followed by Japanese film crew.

Had to take our cat to vet urgent care, and they had a cat chonk chart on the wall.

I am of the age where I am equally “I appreciate things like that” and “damn kids with all their internet slang.”

Laughing at the fact that at trunk or treat tonight, I had to inform a mother that her daughter was dressed as Princess Daisy, as she had no idea who her child was character-wise.

A few thoughts after digging through so much video game history:

• Man, the 16-bit era was awesome
• I really missed a lot never owning a Game Boy Color
• PlayStation was pretty cool, man
• The Dreamcast had so many amazing games and unique features and boy did it and that Sega deserve so much more

The duality of iPhone alarms in my home.

Me: Two alarms, one for weekdays, one weekend. Edit either and change time as needed.

Wife: TWENTY-TWO alarms, each to a specific time of day. (Some even only 5 minutes apart.) Turn on or off depending on that day's wake-up time.

Over my career, I'd never had the chance to talk to Tomonobu Itagaki, but he was someone who'd always fascinated me. (In part due to our shared public "hate" for Tekken.)

Last year, I reached out to him out of the blue, and he was incredibly kind and friendly.

I'm now really glad I did. RIP

All that remains of my local Target’s Xbox section. Zero games properly displayed (around eight stuffed into a clearance area). One console, an Xbox Series S.

Walmart still has its full section for now.
