In the face of great adversity, Martin Luther King, Jr. did not cower; he did not quit. He pressed on and inspired a movement that changed the world. Let's honor his legacy by pressing on in our fight to end gun violence. #MLKDay

Make no mistake: January 6, 2021 was a deadly attempted coup to overturn a democratic election—emboldened by Donald Trump and carried out by people using force and firearms to stop the peaceful transfer of power. 🧵

Gun safety laws protect our communities—full stop. As Congress returns to work, some lawmakers are pushing a dangerous federal Concealed Carry Mandate that would override state laws and allow people from other states to carry hidden, loaded guns in public in states that wouldn’t otherwise let them.

We don’t sit out elections—we win them.

From coast to coast, our volunteers and survivors were out in their communities, knocking on doors, making calls, writing postcards, and doing everything they could to elect Gun Sense Candidates who are committed to ending gun violence. 🧵

Celebratory gunfire is no joke. Each year, innocent bystanders pay the price for this highly irresponsible and dangerous act.

Remember, what goes up must come down. Say NO to celebratory gunfire, and pass it on!

Our volunteers and survivors aren’t just advocating for strong gun safety policies in the halls of their statehouses—they’re writing the laws themselves. In 2025 alone, 110 gun safety bills were introduced by former volunteers who are now serving in elected offices across the country. 🧵
December 29, 2025 at 2:01 PM
Our volunteers and survivors delivered major gun safety victories in 2025, helping five states pass laws banning DIY machine-gun conversion devices, including deep-red Alabama and Tennessee. New Mexico, Colorado, and Oregon also took action this year, pushing the nationwide total to 28 states! 🧵

Even if you don’t own a gun, your child may spend time in homes where firearms are present. Before playdates or visits, it’s important to ask whether there are guns in the home and how they’re stored. These simple conversations can save lives.

In 2025, our volunteers and survivors showed up in hearing rooms, met with lawmakers, and mobilized thousands of supporters to defeat bills that would have forced loaded guns into employee parking lots, blocked states from enforcing federal gun laws, and prohibited future Extreme Risk laws. 🧵

Gun makers often market firearms in ways that put the public at risk—appealing to kids with cartoonish imagery, video game references, or images of children with guns. Like Big Tobacco once did, they aim to hook future customers and encourage parents to “start them young."
