To Honor Her

Thinner than thin,
Just bone in skin,
She couldn’t stand straight,
Like a drooping flower on its last leg!
Her walker as her best friend,
A sight I couldn’t comprehend,
Death as the color of her skin tone,
She was maneuvering fragility alone.
Is she heading out to run errands?
Is she going to an appointment?
She can’t still be driving, can she?
Definitely not that SUV!
‘Determined’ was her demeanor,
I’m reflecting on yesterday’s encounter,
At the time, I was soaked in self pity,
Worn out by my own journey.
I don’t know who she was,
But the sight of her made me pause,
I don’t know if she lived alone,
Or why she wasn’t in a senior home.
All I know is this—
My moment of weakness ended,
She has NOT given up,
Because her heart hasn’t stopped,
So I won’t give up either,
That’s the least I can do to honor her.

#Birdoftheday is juvenile or fledglings. See how hungry the little fellow is! Mom flew back and forth numerous times, bringing little bugs. Dad was gone for ages but would then show up with a huge bug which he’d try to shove down their throats. 🤣

Today is #scape day.
I wish my mind was as calm and as focused as this.
Ever since my last bout of Covid, I feel I’ve lost part of my ability to think 😔

In black and white, shadows and light, create such an alluring sight. Though the wind beaten coastal trees, atop an eroding cliffside, the rising sun radiates. The Pacific Ocean shines as bright as the star that kisses it. A feeling of hope, through this disarming beauty, washes over me in moments like these.

Image of a goat with eyes closed and squatting a little like she’s probably peeing during daytime and then her friends are in the back. She is standing on dry grass. Nice sunlight.

Some memories we carry in our hearts forever. ♥️

One of the most magical moments in my life was watching the natural phenomenon Aurora Borealis in May 2024 that left me both mesmerized & mystified.
I went out on a field to look for the dazzling dancing lights. Eventually I was lying in the dirt, looking up & watching the breathtakingly beautiful spectacle above me with tears in my eyes. There’s part of my left foot in a white college shoe visible in the lower left corner. Not really appropriate, but I initially just wanted to have a look & didn’t expect to see what I saw & that I’d stay on this field for hours. A lamp’s light is illuminating the field.
The aurora was fluid & danced over me in all shades of purple, pink, green, dark red, in round shapes & in pillars. In the picture some stars are sparkling in between.
Pink auroras are rare & are typically associated with a high solar activity.
Red auroras occur only during strong electromagnetic storms.

"Nature always wears the colors of the spirit" by Ralph Waldo Emerson, means that our perception and experience of the natural world are profoundly shaped by our own inner mood, emotions, and state of mind. In essence, nature serves as a mirror to our inner reality.

More about the aurora borealis:
Auroras are caused by energized particles from the sun that are slamming into Earth's upper atmosphere at speeds of up to 45 million mph / 72 million kmh. The magnetic field of the Earth then redirects the particles toward the north and south poles.
The different colors are caused by the level of the solar activity, strength of the storm, density in the atmosphere, and the gases in the atmosphere that are excited by the incoming particles, eg. oxygen and nitrogen, emit different colors.
Also the altitude at which the aurora occurs plays a role, e.g. oxygen emits green light, which is the most common color of the aurora, but it can also emit red light at higher altitudes.
Nitrogen emits blue light, & can also produce purple & pink colors when mixed with oxygen.
Stunning!

Better late than never: Here’s my #BirdOfTheDay a #ClassicMono Mallard! ✨🦆✨
I like how the water looks a little bit artistic in black & white. I took this picture during my last holiday before my life changed at the Triestacher lake in Austria. #WeekMForMemories
#EastCoastKin #AlphabetChallenge
Black an white picture of a mallard swimming in the water of a lake. The mallard is pictured from the side, swimming to the left side and looking a bit at me, it seems to be very relaxed. It’s left foot is hanging in the water. The water surface was softly moving, creating what looks like circular figures with circles in the middle and they have all different shades of grey. I don’t know how to describe it properly, but it looks a bit like modern art and I somehow like it a lot, even or maybe especially as the picture isn’t very sharp.
These holidays were my last long and happy holidays for the last 6 years and the last ones with my beloved adopted grandfather, who had so much fun watching the ducks and mallards on that August day in the sunshine. He loved birds and was able to make all the birds tweeds and noises and he did it always when he heard a bird. He also loved this area and was visiting there for over 50 years in a row. He died with over 90 years exactly one year and 20 days after I took this picture.
I miss him dreadfully, he was one of the best persons I ever met in my life.
Don’t cry because it’s over, be happy that it happened. ♥️

I proudly present Marigull, the probably most beautiful white gull gracefully dancing over the beaches of this world in her best tutu for today's #BirdOfTheDay 🩰✨🕊️✨
#Photography #EastCoastKin #Birds
A white gull is standing on a sandy beach on a sunny summer day with the deep blue ocean behind her and a baby blue cloudless sky above her. She’s looking towards me, who was taking the picture (no, I didn’t lure her with food) and the wind from the ocean makes her side belly feathers look like a ballet tutu. It’s a cute picture and I like it a lot.

A sunflower in full bloom is facing the bright sun on a beautiful October day. Behind the sunflower there’s blue sky with some few soft clouds. In the lower part of the picture the crowns of bushes can be seen behind the sunflower. On the left side of the sunflower there’s a bee flying towards the spectator, while on the right side a fly is sitting on the uppermost leaf.
The petals of the sunflower are shining in the most beautiful yellow, their own mutual shadows are deepening their beauty and giving a nice effect.

The upper left quarter of a big sunflower is pictured. Its yellow-orange colored petals are glowing in the bright sunlight with a deep blue October sky above it. The cooler colors of the blue sky an are creating a stunning contrast to the warm yellow petals of the sunflower. A little bee is sitting on the petals, looking towards the upper right corner of the picture. Its delicate wings are casting a beautiful little shadow on the petals.
