okay looking at the CSS it seems it's *supposed* to have a background blur, but they've got a variable `--yt-frosted-glass-backdrop-filter-override` disabling the blur effect. if you remove the override flag it looks like this

it's still horrible, but it's at least a *little* bit less shit

the same screenshot as before, except now the translucent elements are blurring the content behind them, making them slightly more legible
