Choose a pose you want that alien to remain in for the rest of its prop life and then set up wall mounts that only hold its weight on points youre okay with taking a little damage. For example, bottom of the feet, maybe the elbows or crotch. Once its set up, do not move it!

Absolutely this, take the weight off as much as you can. Sadly latex is a forever crumbling material with time working against it, so just being very careful with what light, if any, you cast on it, not letting it stretch at all from weight or movement, etc. Its an absolute relic!
