Nov 8th is National Indigenous Veterans Day.
Despite their bravery, many Indigenous veterans returned home to systemic discrimination. They were denied the same benefits as non-Indigenous soldiers, excluded from veterans’ programs, & in many cases, lost their Indian status due to enlistment. 1/3

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. One person lost to suicide is too many. Did you know that Indigenous People are 3x times more likely to attempt suicide, and Indigenous youth and adoptees are even more at risk? Culture is healing - there is hope 🙌💜

I am happy for the family and for raising awareness of the #SixtiesScoop! However, these kinds of blissful reunions are not the norm - trauma runs deep. We need support for successful reunification and reconnection to community. 🥚

MB is one of the worst offenders. Last I checked, 100% children in care were Indigenous in Nunavut. It's a national crisis in plain sight.
