The trouble with this narrative is that nobody knows what the unelected head of NATO (which as an organisation has an interest in an arms race) offered to the US.

Maybe not. Iceland is in a strategic position in the western hemisphere.

If he wants Greenland and Canada, why not Iceland next?

This govt is terrible on policy, as per the budget, it floats ideas, sees what the reaction is and then tries something else.

If policy is based on a feedback loop like that, it isn’t designed for foreign policy. They just don’t think strategically enough - it’s all about reacting.

Of course we should. The US is not acting as an ally.

Rather more thoughtful than bow and scrape from Keir.

The UK isn’t responsible for Trump. We are responsible for Starmer and his appeasement.

”strong words”

As weak as he could be. When threatened with tariffs, he jumps straight to the “we will not retaliate” white flag, again.

NATO is finished.

The US keeps saying it won’t defend anything it doesn’t own.

If they boarded and shot them in the head maybe the US public would get the message.

It’s just the same, it’s murder.

Nandy really is daft.

To conflate 1 error with “systematic bias” is incredibly naive and opens the door for a further Overton shift to the right.

The BBC has been captured by ex-tories and tabloid hacks, and has moved to the right massively in recent years.

It’s incredible. “Farquhar’s Dad’s money manager tells me he is taking a gap year in Dubai”

At least we can comment on this here.

The FT’s policy of allowing comments on articles on their app on left wing controversy, and on Ukraine, but denying them on right wing issues and Gaza is quite a contortion.

Mag will eat itself but it may be too late to avoid what it has unleashed.
