Something I bounce around in spare thought about what makes the first one now and forever the best I call The Jurassic Park effect. The first film was such a perfect storm of effects and frightening realism, that the thunder it dropped has been stolen from every attempt to reproduce it.

..with a terrible rating, and you follow the want and look anyway, and find the ratings spot on, and you can't finish the film.

The film that gave me this feeling is Gunslingers. Nicolas Cage, Stephen Dorf, and Heather Graham in a western. Excited. Apparently they spent the budget on Cage.

That's pretty much how it was. I saw it on HBO at 14 only knowing the title and Arnold was in it.

And again with Captain America,Harrison Ford as President was plenty of draw. They really didn't need to reveal Red Hulk, that could have been an awesome Holy Shit moment instead it was "Oh there he is", 92% into the movie.

Companion wasn't spoiled by the trailer at least that I remember, it was probably review headlines, but what could have been a surprise wasn't.
