Japan brought in 99-year mortgages during the Tokyo real estate bubble of the late 1980s. I recently read the country is finally recovering.

How is it I remember this scene almost exactly as it went when I saw it during its first run (forgot the aunt lived in Wichita) but I don't remember the movie I went to see last week (and I forget the title - see)?

The one below 1st. And this Vancouverite gets Pike Place, Pike St., and Pine St. mixed up all the time. Did the founders of Seattle run out of names when they were laying out the city?

Right. I was imagining a Seattle where that street outside the market was car-free from say noon through midnight every day

I found this book in a waiting area at the airport. Never had read anything by King but aware he's always on the bestseller lists. Read it while watching 4 baseball games. Unlike Eco the text just flows. It's like he lived those years, and I thought the ending was a fine payoff.

Occasional visitor from Vancouver here. Isn't that what that car-filled block at the entrance to Pike Place is supposed to be?

I have 5 serious books out of the library but someone left a tattered paperback of this next to a park bench and I'm neglecting them. But we're nearing the end of 1961 and our guy still hasn't bought himself 20 copies of FF #1 and buried them in a waterproof plastic box to dig up 50 years later

If only there was something the senator could have done about that. So many times.

Why else was near-bankrupt NYC such a rich incubator for music, art, and experimental theater in the 70s and 80s. Oh yeah fashion although i’m no expert wearing the same things for last 30 years

Has anyone reading this been in one and can report? Are they any good or do they feel like life-threatening knockoffs? Also the usual human rights issues

Does anyone know what the Chinese EVs for export are actually like? Where in North American (Portland/Seattle/Vancouver) can I actually evaluate one?
