Think she can develop into an incredible presser. Incredible work rate.

I just remember those times having Lia, her and Malin in the same team. Could hardly press any of the 3 due to the comfort they've got on either feet.

Agent of chaos? That's funny 😅

Unfortunately, Arsenal's only proper DM has been unfit this whole year.
Also, there's a decision about Stina, surely Barca will leave space behind. And you need that pace of hers to utilize, besides Chloe. A lot of tactical questions and an interesting one to see.

Well said. If you have such type of player, you literally have 2 creative players in your team and you're not handing the responsibility to Odegaard alone.

The margins might've been an issue but neither were we set up tactically to control the game. The first 3 minutes indicated that but still didn't adjust even when they scored that offside goal. We couldn't control anything and Newcastle stretched the pitch which caused more issues.

Watched her last year before the wc. I liked her right away. Have been screaming for awfc to sign her. I'm really happy for this. Her style is kinda similar to Sakina.

City have had Nielsen lately to oversee that business, Arsenal just need that personnel as well. The manager can't handle football stuff as well as scouting and transfer stuff.

Whether it's directly SD or not, the top European clubs have got personnel that handle the transfer business and sorts. They be proactive in squad building, and Arsenal just seem more reactive. Barcelona, Chelsea, Lyon are just a bit different at how they handle the market.

What I was pointing out a few weeks ago. Awfc don't have a Sporting/Technical Director and that is hindering the business part of the game. The absence of such personnel is evident in how they do business and handle squad.

I mean a person whose role is specifically that. She also doesn't seem to be doing well on that front. Need someone quite reliable and can handle squad planning efficiently.

That's why I really fancy Arsenal getting a technical/sporting director for the women's team. That way, they can handle such business effectively.

They also should be offering these kids long term contracts. At least you know, she's not yours for about 2/3 years. She's just developing elsewhere. Then the remaining 2 you integrate them.
December 30, 2024 at 7:09 PM
Great piece. As pointed out, I also think arsenal ought to sign those prospects with a clear plan. Don't recall them because you've got emergencies, let their progress continue. You benefit in the long run.

Pelova has few issues that I'm sure will iron out with experience. But she ticks most of the boxes for a Kim replica and most of the time, she's always one of the best on the pitch. She literally operates as the engine in the middle.
December 17, 2024 at 7:14 PM
If I'm not forgetting, during that era it was a freer midfield. Roles were basically shared between nobbs, her and dvd. The positional, tactical awareness in that role has basically shone in the Jonas era with more restricted movement and assigned role. They were playing free roles.
December 17, 2024 at 7:14 PM
Yeah, the last couple games have highlighted the need to sign another midfielder than control tempo.
December 17, 2024 at 5:30 PM
For all fans that complained why kim-lia is still the pivot, the juve return leg should've been an eye opener.
If not, the last 2 games are just a reason to understand it in the absence of that pivot.
December 17, 2024 at 5:01 PM
The problem is less about Walsh and more about sarina's tactical set up. She's basically struggled with setting that team right and England's general lack of top quality midfielders kinda plays a part.
Most of the traits you just said is what pelova offers and that's why I see that role as hers.
December 17, 2024 at 4:57 PM
She's basically got most of the stuff right in her. Her press resistance reached a point and we even forgot about Kim. A fully fit vic is the next permanent 8 of we're following the current blue print.
