fairly mundane commentary from southeastern PA
Just got two pairs of new tights, & having tights that are not too small & don’t have any holes is SO nice—I can actually WEAR them & be comfortable!! Ironically, I spent SO LONG telling myself i didn’t need new, comfortable, non-holey tights because I never wore the tights I already had!

Lol just cooked halloumi in a pan for the first time & the way it poufed up & all the water came out & FOAMED?? The way it didn’t even START to brown? Terrifying! Thought I’d created a true boggy-cheese hell. And then! Poured off the water, turned up the heat & it crisped right up & was SO delicious

just cooked a bunch of corn with so much butter and pepper and salt and a little thyme and garlic and then I immersion-blended it and added it to Annie’s mac and cheese along with a bunch of zucchini shredded & cooked down with even more butter/pepper, and damn is it good

One thing about me is I WILL be trying to do active listening for the story you are telling even if I am choking back sobs while you literally have your hands in my mouth grafting new gum onto my gums

There is nothing like an author who refuses to accept any basic punctuation edits to make me realize 1) how much I do actually understand the function and utility of punctuation despite usually operating mostly on vibes, and 2) how much I rabidly CARE about punctuation Making Sense

I think this is the first time I've lived walking distance from a grocery store and I'm out of my mind about it. I'll walk there several times a day. Oh did I forget to grab something? No big deal I'll simply Walk To The Store

sometimes you place a hold on a libby audiobook even tho it’s baseball season & you don’t have spare listening time for audiobooks…& then you see there’re 15 people ahead of you in line for the book & feel better cause it’s a long season but surely not THAT long

Me, with cinnamon-date-sweet-bread baking in the oven, suddenly catching a strong whiff of something VERY burnt and savory smelling: *runs to the kitchen in a panic*
Alex, already in the kitchen: *minding his own business, toasting an everything bagel*

The CDC eviscerated divisions that oversee a database on accidental deaths and injuries AND the team that maintains a tool for tracking sexually transmitted diseases.

The EPA will stop requiring that industry measures greenhouse gas emissions.

If you don't measure, it's not a problem, right?

By slashing teams that gather critical data, the administration has left the federal government with no way of understanding if policies are working — and created a black hole of information whose con...

I love the ethereal clutter effect and how sculptural this is (and also it sounds kind of nightmarish to work on, but maybe in a fun ever-evolving challenge way)

I googled “good goldfish names” and maybe we could just name the cat Bubbles cause he looks like a goldfish most of the time

Me, stepping out my door into calm late afternoon sun: Oh ok, so it’s finally not FREEZING out here
Me, half a block later, walking into the wind at a 60° tilt, clutching my coat around me: Never mind, risked the great outdoors too soon

It’s become very apparent that when I’m editing on hard copy i catch all the missing/incorrect hyphens adjacent to the word “century” but I will never notice if the word “nineteenth” is misspelled, AND I am working with an author who regularly uses both “ninteenth” and “nineteeth,” so that’s fun

I’ve been in something of a state of despair because it’s gray & icy, the world is a mess, & the cat won’t let me pet him, but then I ate some green lentils cooked in chicken broth & herbs d’provence with sautéed kale & peppery mushrooms & caramelized onions cooked in butter & now I feel hope again
