20's Buster, 30's Screwball, 40's Noir, 50's TV, 60's Music, 70's MLB. Vegan. Crazy Cat Man. Walking Antique. Or Current Occupant
I don't have the patience to sit through a couple of hours of 19th century satire, but this record has given me decades of pleasure: funny and beautiful songs from start to finish. On Seraphim, from the 70's. Accept no substitute.

Some good finds (for once) amid a great deal of drek at the Salvation Army this morning. Two early Elektra Tom Paxton's, promotional copy of Randy Newman's first, a Lord Buckley, with "newly discovered performances", and John McCormack, the great Irish tenor (1884-1945).

The Ritz, right up the street from my childhood home in Port Richmond, Staten Island. Another of the great movie palaces from the 1930's. In it's later years some great rock bands played there.

I saw it back then at the St. George Theatre in Staten Island, one of the old, grand ornate movie palaces. It was a wonderful discovery with a big screen and a live audience. I'll never forget it.

I wanted to watch The Man Who Came to Dinner on Christmas night but I had to settle for the filmed original stage version with Nathan Lane on YouTube. And while I'll always cherish the film, I must say Mr. Lane and company do a great job with the play.

I'm listening to Neil Young's latest Talkin' To The Trees and I see that it's co-produced by...Lou Adler! Who just turned 92. Needless to say, God Bless Him.

Something I just realized: In Britain a "villain" is a serious bad guy. In America a "villain" is a comic book character.

I've enjoyed every reincarnation of Inspector Maigret from Jean Gabin to Rowan Atkinson. This new one is good too. Only, since English is apparently the national language of France, why are documents and newspapers and signs still in French?

I had this yesterday. Quite tasty and reasonably priced compared to some of the more famous brands.
